The Marshallton Mad Hatters defeated the Kimberton Firefighters 5-2 at 
Four Dogs Field.
 
Marshallton tallied 4 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they had 6
base hits.  That scoring would be all that was needed.  Kimberton was out-hit
by Marshallton, 11-5.  
 
Steve Renko(5-3) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. Rawly
Eastwick gained credit for his 19th save.  Carl Morton(3-4) was hit with the
loss.  He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 5 runs in 2 and 2/3
innings.  
 
 
CHESTER SPRINGS AT HONEY BROOK

Jack Billingham had a strong outing at The Nest where the Chester Springs team
beat the Honey Brook Beekeepers 1-0.
 
Chester Springs promptly took the lead in their half of the first plating one
baserunner using 2 hits.  The early run support proved sufficient for
Billingham(2-6) and Chester Springs.  That was all the run support Billingham
required.  Chester Springs finished with 7 hits while Honey Brook ended up
with 3.  
 
Billingham got help from Charlie Hough who earned his 16th save. The losing
pitcher was Dave Freisleben(3-6).  He allowed 1 run and 3 hits in 4 and 1/3
innings.

Mike Schmidt had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Elverson Squires topped the Devault
Dynamiters by a score of 4-1 at French Creek Park.
 
Devault was unable to recover after Elverson went ahead in the bottom of the
5th inning scoring a single run.  Overall Elverson out-hit Devault 9-6.
 
John Denny(4-8) allowed 1 run in 7 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory.
Al Hrabosky recorded his 7th save.  Woodie Fryman(4-7) took the loss.  
 
EAGLE AT GUTHRIESVILLE, 1st

Pat Zachry completed the game without help from the bullpen and George Foster
had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the Eagle Eagles defeated the lifeless
Guthriesville Golddiggers 7-2 at Hopewell Field.
 
Eagle jumped on top to stay in the top of the 2nd inning when they came up
with 2 runs on 3 hits.  That early run support was all that Zachry(6-6)
required.  Eagle banged out 14 hits on the afternoon.  
 
Jim Kaat(3-11) absorbed the loss.  He surrendered 11 hits and no walks in 6
innings.

In a good matchup it was the Eagle Eagles 3, the Guthriesville Golddiggers 1
at Hopewell Field.
 
Eagle had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning plating 2 runs.
Darrel Chaney led off and started the attack as he drew a walk.  Bud
Harrelson followed next and he reached on an error.  Pete Rose then drew a
walk to load the bases.  Omar Moreno was up next and he ripped a one-base
hit.  After another out, George Foster dug into the batters box next, but he
struck out.  Eagle had 8 hits for the game and Guthriesville had 5.  
 
The victory was credited to Randy Moffitt(4-5) who went 1 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Alan Foster(0-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.  
 
 
LIONVILLE AT GLENMOORE, 1st

In a two run game the Glenmoore Stableboys got by the Lionville club 5-3.
 
Glenmoore did all the necessary damage in the 4th inning when they scored 5
runs on 5 hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Roy Staiger who brought
the crowd to their feet when he doubled plating three runs.  The pitchers
took over after the 4th inning as neither team was able to score again.
 
Rick Rhoden(5-3) went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Gene
Garber earned his 14th save.  Craig Swan(3-4) ended up with the loss.  He
allowed Glenmoore 5 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings of work.

Bake McBride connected with a 'big fly' at Bentley Stadium as the Glenmoore
Stableboys beat the Lionville team in 13 innings 4-3.
 
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings.  Glenmoore won the
hard fought contest in the 13th inning.  After an out was recorded, Mike
Anderson slapped a base-hit.  Ted Sizemore was next and he hit a single.
Johnny Grubb then smacked a single making Glenmoore the victor and beginning
a joyous home town celebration.  Both teams ended up with 11 hits on the
afternoon.  
 
Dennis Lewallyn(1-1) went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the win.
Chuck Taylor(1-1) absorbed the loss in relief.  He pitched 4 innings and
surrendered 3 hits and no walks.
