The Marshallton Mad Hatters readily handled Glenmoore Stableboys 8-4 at
Bentley Stadium.

Ron Cey was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He laced a base-hit bringing in a run
in the 4th inning, stroked a single plating a run in the 8th inning and
popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 9th inning. Marshallton had 12
hits for the game and Glenmoore had 9.

Rawly Eastwick(4-2) went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory.
Bill Bonham(4-6) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 9 hits and 1 walk in 7
innings.

Chester Springs scored the winning runs in the top of the 9th inning with 2
runs on 2 base hits. Jose Cardenal started the inning off right when he
doubled. After an out was recorded, Rick Monday came to bat and was walked
intentionally. One out later, Gary Thomasson stepped up to the plate and he
drew a walk to load the bases. Lee Lacy stepped in and he singled. Lacy
took second on the throw. Devault was out-hit by Chester Springs, 6-3.

The winning pitcher was Seaver(10-2) who allowed 1 run in 8 and 2/3 innings.
Charlie Hough recorded his 20th save. The loss was charged to Woodie

323 fans were treated to a fine game at Hopewell Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Guthriesville Golddiggers won by
the slimmest of margins, 4-3.

Guthriesville won the game with a run in the 8th inning. Keith Hernandez drew
a walk. Champ Summers was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. Barry
Foote then laced a base-knock. Enos Cabell got his turn next, but he was a
strikeout victim. Don Kessinger stepped into the box and doubled. Von
Joshua added to the outburst and was walked intentionally to load the bases.
Elverson had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.

The victory went to Ken Forsch(3-6) who went 2 and 1/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Joe Coleman earned his 1st save. The losing pitcher was Jim Barr(8-8).
He surrendered 7 hits and 4 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.

'Anytime you lose it hurts,' said John Carney 'but it's losing the close ones
that really hurt.'

Win:Hooton(9-3) Loss:Alcala(3-5)
Homeruns- G.Matthews(14th)

Chris Speier had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Burt Hooton had a strong outing at
Foster Field where the Lionville club beat the Honey Brook Beekeepers 3-1.

Hooton(9-3) simply dominated Honey Brook. He allowed only 4 hits and no walks
in 9 innings. Both teams' bats went to sleep after the 2nd inning with no
runs scored after that point.

Santo Alcala(3-5) took the loss. He allowed 6 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 1/3
innings. When questioned about his counterpart after the game, Alcala was
lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be
in for a long night. Hooton brought his 'A' game with him - he had good
stuff and was able to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one or two
bad pitches the entire game!
