In a game at Hickory Park the Eagle Eagles got by the Elverson Squires 4-1.
 
Don Sutton(8-5) pitched a fine game.  He allowed 8 hits and 4 walks in 8 and
2/3 innings.  Eagle had 11 hits for the game and Elverson had 8.  
 
Sutton got relief help from Ramon Hernandez who gained credit for his 5th
save.  The loss was charged to John Denny(4-9).  He got hit pretty hard,
allowing 11 hits and 4 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.

The Honey Brook Beekeepers bested the Marshallton Mad Hatters 4-1 at Four Dogs
Field.
 
Honey Brook claimed the early lead in the first inning scoring one runner.
Cesar Geronimo slapped a base-hit.  Geronimo took second on a stolen base.
After an out was recorded, Gary Matthews stepped up to the plate and he drew
a walk.  J.R. Richard then uncorked a wild pitch.  Doug Rader stepped into
the box and hit a deep fly.  Honey Brook had 7 hits overall, while
Marshallton had 4.  
 
Mark Lemongello(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 5 and 1/3
innings. Lerrin Lagrow was credited with his 1st save.  Richard(7-7) absorbed
the loss.  
 
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT KIMBERTON

At Kimberton Fairground the Guthriesville Golddiggers were battered 6-1 by
the Kimberton Firefighters.
 
Larry Demery(5-3) delivered a fine performance for Kimberton.  He was reached
for 5 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.  The teams had been locked in a
scoreless duel until the 7th inning.  
 
Larry Dierker(3-9) was tagged with the loss.  He gave up 3 runs and 4 hits in
6 and 2/3 innings.
 
GLENMOORE AT CHESTER SPRINGS

Dave Concepcion blasted a homerun and John Montefusco came through with a
solid 8 innings at Historic Village Park as the Glenmoore Stableboys beat the
Chester Springs team 4-3.
 
Montefusco(9-5) was on top of his game.  He gave up just 3 hits and 1 walk in
8 innings.  Chester Springs made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable
to push the needed runs across.  
 
Montefusco got help from Gene Garber who was credited with his 16th save.  Jim
Rooker(4-7) was the loser.  Jim Ghoulach was subdued after the ballgame,
'That one really hurts.  If our guys had simply played more fundamentally
sound, we could have won that one.  That is what really ticks me off!'

Craig Swan took a no-hitter into the 6th inning and Ted Simmons hit 2 doubles
and had 2 RBI as the very talented Lionville ballclub crushed the reeling
Devault Dynamiters 15-3.
 
Swan(4-4) gave Lionville a solid outing.  He went 5 and 2/3 innings
surrendering 4 hits and 2 walks.  The right-handed Swan lost his no-hit bid
when Rod Gilbreath doubled with two outs in the 6th inning.  Lionville bats
were hot in the 4th inning when they had 4 runs on 3 hits and the 8th inning
with 7 runs on 8 hits.  Lionville ended up with 19 hits for the game while
Devault had 7.  
 
Woodie Fryman(4-8) was given the loss.  He was knocked around, surrendering 7
runs in 3 innings.
