Eagle took the lead for keeps in the 5th inning as they scored 3 runs on 3 base hits. Eagle had a total of 11 hits for the game. The victory was credited to Ruthven(6-6) who went the distance, allowing 2 runs. The loss was charged to Larry Christenson(2-7). Eagle scored big getting 6 runs off him in 5 and 2/3 innings. Eagle won for the 6th straight time. Gary Scott was very irritated after the contest. 'Just our luck to run into a team that's playing like a juggernaut right now. I have to congratulate Bob Phillips on his team's recent performance. A very impressive run.' Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Marshallton prevailed in the 10th inning. Roger Metzger drew a walk. After an out was recorded, Bill Buckner came to the plate and drew a walk. Mike Ivie then banged out a single. Ivie took second on the throw. Ron Cey followed next and he was walked intentionally to load the bases. Marshallton out-hit Kimberton for the game, 8-4. Bruce Dal Canton(1-2) got the win allowing 1 run in 4 innings. Rawly Eastwick preserved the game for Dal Canton, recording his his 24th. Fred Norman(2-7) was charged with the loss. The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. Chester Springs won the hard fought contest in the 12th inning. After an out was recorded, Javier laced a one-base hit. After another out, Bob Boone stepped in and he ripped a base-hit. Larry Bowa then delivered a single making Chester Springs the victors to the delight of the home town faithful. Chester Springs had 14 hits overall, while Honey Brook had 5. The win was credited to Manny Sarmiento(1-1) who went 1 inning allowing no runs. Tug McGraw(7-5) was tagged with the loss in relief. He allowed 1 run and 5 hits in 5 innings. Woodie Fryman(5-9) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win. He was reached for 9 hits and 1 walk in 5 and 1/3 innings. Devault managed 10 hits in their victory. Bruce Sutter earned the save, his 16th. Bob Forsch(5-5) took the loss. Devault knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 5 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings. GLENMOORE AT LIONVILLE Stableboys...... 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 - 1 5 1 Tiger-Cats...... 5 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 - 6 9 1 Win:Carlton(10-3) Loss:Bonham(4-7) Homeruns- K.Reitz(1st) Ken Reitz lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and Steve Carlton retired 14 batters on strikeouts at Foster Field where the Lionville club beat the Glenmoore Stableboys 6-1. Carlton(10-3) dominated Glenmoore hitters. He gave up just 5 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Both teams' bats went to sleep after the 3rd inning with no runs scored after that point. Bill Bonham(4-7) was given the loss. When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Carlton offered, 'The fan's really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy tonight - of course, it would be all for naught without the 'W'.'
