In a thriling finish the Eagle Eagles pulled off the win over the Honey Brook
Beekeepers 2-1 at Hickory Park.
Eagle won the game with a run in the 9th inning. Dave Parker laced a single.
Dick Allen followed, but he was set down on strikes. Lerrin Lagrow then was
wild with a pitch. Manny Sanguillen came up and he lined a one-base hit
giving Eagle the win as 405 happy fans joyfully celebrated. Eagle had just 6
hits for the afternoon.
Mike Marshall(5-3) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
Lagrow(0-2) was given the loss in relief. He allowed 2 hits and no walks in
3 and 1/3 innings.

George Foster left the yard at Hickory Park where the Eagle Eagles beat the
Honey Brook Beekeepers 3-0.
Chip Lang(2-1) pitched well for Eagle in their victory. He went 5 innings
allowing 2 hits and 2 walks lowering his ERA to 3.55. Randy Moffitt pitched
a perfect ninth to earn his 18th save.
Pete Falcone(5-9) was tagged with the loss. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings and
surrendered 6 hits and 5 walks.

In a tight game it was the Elverson Squires 6, the Marshallton Mad Hatters 4
at Four Dogs Field.
Marshallton was unable to claim the lead after Elverson went ahead in the 6th
inning scoring 2 runners on 2 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Joe
Ferguson who deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he clubbed a two-run
home run. Although they lost, Marshallton did out-hit Elverson 14-10.
The winning pitcher was Jim Barr(8-7) who allowed 4 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings.
Dave Tomlin recorded the save, his 2nd. Brent Strom(9-4) suffered the loss.
He gave up 7 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.

Bo McLaughlin held Devault to 2 hits and center fielder Bake McBride had 4
hits and 3 RBI as the Glenmoore Stableboys defeated the Devault Dynamiters 9-1
at Great Valley Stadium.
Devault was unable to recover after Glenmoore went ahead in the top of the 3rd
inning scoring one runner on 3 hits. That was all McLaughlin(1-4) needed.
Glenmoore rapped out 17 hits for the night.
Rick Sawyer(0-5) took the loss. Glenmoore knocked him around a bit, as he
gave up 7 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings. 'McLaughlin was the man tonight,' Barry
Bentley said. 'He had just about every pitch working.'

In a game at Historic Village Park the Guthriesville Golddiggers got by the
Chester Springs club 4-1.
Andy Messersmith(3-8) had a solid outing for Guthriesville. He allowed 5 hits
and 2 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings. The teams had been locked in a scoreless
duel until the 8th inning.
Messersmith got relief help from Ken Forsch who gained credit for his 10th
save. Joe Niekro(4-3) ended up with the loss. He pitched 7 and 2/3 innings
allowing 6 hits and no walks.
LIONVILLE AT KIMBERTON

Randy Jones pitched a complete game shutout and third baseman Ken Reitz had 4
hits and 3 RBI as the Lionville ballclub destroyed the Kimberton Firefighters
13-0 at Kimberton Fairground.
Jones(13-3) pitched a solid game. He didn't give up much, just 5 hits and 2
walks in 9 innings. Lionville managed 18 hits in their victory.
The loss was charged to Don Carrithers(2-5). He got hammered, allowing 9 hits
and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings. 'We really needed this win' said Jon
Brams. 'That first drink of water at the end of a drought sure does taste
good!'
