Pat Zachry mowed down 10 Guthriesville batters at Hickory Park as the
seemingly unstoppable Eagle Eagles beat the dreadful Guthriesville
Golddiggers 4-1.
 
Zachry(8-7) contributed a very nicely pitched game.  He surrendered only 7
hits and 4 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings lowering his ERA to 3.92.  Eagle had a
total of 8 hits for the game.  
 
Zachry got relief help from Randy Moffitt who gained credit for his 19th save.
Steve Rogers(5-8) was the loser.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance
of Zachry - except Guthriesville.  Gary Scott lamented, 'He just was 'on'
this afternoon.  He was keeping our guys off balance all game.  A fine game
by a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown fans -
unfortunately we were the visitors!'

At Kimberton Fairground the floundering Kimberton Firefighters were battered
10-3 by the Marshallton Mad Hatters.
 
Marshallton wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning scoring 6
runners on 5 hits.  That was all Brent Strom(11-4) needed.  Marshallton had 9
hits for the afternoon.  
 
The losing pitcher was Jim Lonborg(7-8).  He gave up 4 hits and 2 walks in 2/3
of an inning.

In a lop-sided win the Marshallton Mad Hatters registered 4 runs in the 6th
inning and ripped the ice-cold Kimberton Firefighters by a 7-1.
 
Marshallton went ahead for good in the 2nd inning scoring a single run on 2
hits.  Both teams ended up with 7 hits on the afternoon.  
 
The victory was credited to Charlie Williams(1-2) who went 6 and 2/3 innings,
allowing no runs. John Candelaria(12-3) was hit with the loss.  The win was 
was the 6th straight for Marshallton. Kimberton, on the other hand, has lost 
9 in a row.

Jim Barr tossed a complete game as the Elverson Squires beat the Devault
Dynamiters 9-3.
 
Elverson took the lead off Tommy John in the first inning as they scored 5
runs on 3 base hits.  The early run support proved sufficient for Barr(9-8)
and Elverson.  That was all the run support Barr required.  Elverson rapped
out 12 hits for the afternoon.  
 
John(5-7) was the losing pitcher.  He gave up 5 runs and 3 hits in 1/3 of an
inning.

The Chester Springs team had very little trouble at Historic Village Park 
downing the Honey Brook Beekeepers.  The score was 8-3.
 
Honey Brook was unable to recover after Chester Springs went ahead in the
bottom of the 5th inning plating one baserunner.  Chester Springs ended up
with 10 hits for the game while Honey Brook had 6.  
 
Phil Niekro(9-7) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Charlie
Hough recorded his 22nd save.  Ray Burris(6-13) absorbed the loss.  He
allowed 6 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings.  
 
 
GLENMOORE AT LIONVILLE

Ed Kranepool had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the indomitable Lionville ballclub really
laid it on the Glenmoore Stableboys 23-1.
 
It was a good day for Lionville thanks to Kranepool.  He lined a single
scoring two baserunners in the 1st inning, laced a one-base hit which was
good for two runs in the 6th inning, delivered a base-hit in the 7th inning
and singled in the 8th inning.  Lionville bats were very productive in the
1st inning when they had 7 runs on 6 hits, the 6th inning with 6 runs on 4
hits and the 7th inning which saw them plate 6 runs on 5 hits.  For the game
Lionville out-hit Glenmoore 21 to 7.  
 
The win was credited to Bruce Kison(9-3) who went 8 innings allowing 1 run.
Rick Rhoden(5-5) ended up with the loss.  He was unable to retire a batter
giving up 5 hits and 2 walks.
