Second baseman Don Kessinger had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Devault Dynamiters
were badly beaten by the Guthriesville Golddiggers, 16-4.
 
Buzz Capra(2-2) pitched okay, well enough for the win.  He was reached for 5
hits and 4 walks in 6 innings.  Capra recorded 7 strikeouts and was touched
for 2 homeruns.  Guthriesville bats were very productive in the 2nd inning
which saw them score 4 runs on 3 hits and the 6th inning plating 4 runs.  The
Guthriesville offense man-handled the Devault pitching staff as they scored
in 7 of the 9 innings.  
 
Capra got relief help from Ken Forsch who gained credit for his 3rd save.
Randy Lerch(0-5) absorbed the loss.
 
GLENMOORE AT CHESTER SPRINGS

The Chester Springs club offense put up 5 runs on the scoreboard in the 2nd
inning and toppled the Glenmoore Stableboys 7-3 at Historic Village Park.
 
Jim Rooker(2-3) pitched well for Chester Springs in their victory.  He
surrendered 5 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings.  Chester Springs ended up with
12 hits for the game while Glenmoore had 8.  
 
The loss was charged to Bill Bonham(5-2).  He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings and
surrendered 6 hits and no walks.
 
MARSHALLTON AT EAGLE

Joe Wallis went deep and had 2 RBI as the Marshallton Mad Hatters crushed the
Eagle Eagles 13-1.
 
Marshallton scored 5 runs in the 2nd inning when they came up with 6 base
hits.  That was all the runs Bob Shirley(4-1) needed.  Marshallton finished
with 19 hits while Eagle ended up with 8.  
 
Pat Zachry(0-3) was the losing pitcher.  He gave up 5 runs and 6 hits in 1 and
2/3 innings.

The Elverson Squires nipped the Honey Brook Beekeepers 4-3 at The Nest in a
hard fought contest.
 
Doug Rau(3-1) delivered a fine performance for Elverson.  He went 7 innings
and surrended up 9 hits and no walks.  Honey Brook threatened in the 9th but
Elverson was able to put down the rally.  
 
Elias Sosa gained credit for his 2nd save.  Jerry Koosman(2-4) was given the
loss.  Chris McLaughlin was subdued when questioned after the game, 'Sure,
this kind of loss takes a while to get over, but heck, we're all
professionals.  We've been through this many times - it's the nature of the
game.  We'll be fine - as for me - I'll be ready to go again tomorrow!'
 
LIONVILLE AT KIMBERTON

The Kimberton Firefighters bested the Lionville team 5-1 at Kimberton Fairground.
 
Lionville was unable to climb back into it after Kimberton went ahead for good
in the bottom of the 4th inning when they came up with 2 runs on 3 hits.
Kimberton had 17 hits overall, while Lionville had 7.  
 
The win went to Eric Rasmussen(2-2) who allowed 1 run in 8 and 2/3 innings.
Guillermo Hernandez preserved the game for Rasmussen, recording his his 2nd.
The losing pitcher was Randy Jones(2-2).  He gave up 11 hits and 1 walk in 5
and 1/3 innings.
