Dave Kingman hit a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Devault Dynamiters staged a
dramatic comeback over the Elverson Squires 4-3 at French Creek Park.
 
Devault came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 9th inning plating 2
runs on 3 base hits.  Kingman opened up the scoring as he smashed a
bases-empty 'big-fly'.  Two outs later Tony Perez came to the plate and
doubled.  Darrell Evans then drew a walk.  Gary Carter stepped in and he
banged out a single.  Devault ended up with 15 hits for the game while
Elverson had 5.  
 
The win went to Dan Warthen(1-1) who allowed no runs in 3 and 2/3 innings.
Bruce Sutter recorded the save, his 14th.  Al Hrabosky(2-2) was the losing
pitcher in relief.  
 
'The only way this one could have been better', said Warthen, 'was if we had
played it at home.'
 
KIMBERTON AT MARSHALLTON

Fred Norman took a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the Kimberton Firefighters
outscored the Marshallton Mad Hatters 2-0.
 
Norman(2-6) was solid in the win.  He allowed only no hits and no walks in 5
and 1/3 innings lowering his ERA from 5.04 to 4.64.  The left-handed Norman
lost a no-hitter when Ken Griffey singled with two outs in the 6th inning.
Marshallton had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
 
Norman got relief help from Skip Lockwood who gained credit for his 18th save.
J.R. Richard(6-6) was hit with the loss.  He surrendered 4 hits and 3 walks
in 6 and 2/3 innings.  
 
 
CHESTER SPRINGS AT HONEY BROOK

In an entertaining game at The Nest the final score was the Honey Brook
Beekeepers 6, the slumping Chester Springs ballclub 3.
 
Honey Brook had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 8th inning when
they tallied 4 runs on 5 hits.  The key at-bat was by Cesar Geronimo who
elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he delivered a one-base hit
bringing home two baserunners.  Tug McGraw was perfect in relief and gained
credit for his 9th save.  
 
The winning pitcher was Jerry Koosman(7-2) who allowed 3 runs in 8 innings.
Joe Niekro(4-2) ended up with the loss in relief.  He allowed 2 hits and no
walks in 2/3 of an inning.

In a game at Bentley Stadium the Eagle Eagles got by the Glenmoore Stableboys
6-3.
 
Don Sutton(7-4) was very good in the win.  He gave up just 6 hits and 3 walks
in 8 innings.  Eagle had 10 hits for the night while Glenmoore had 6.
 
Randy Moffitt earned his 17th save.  Don Gullett(2-5) was the loser.  He got
hit hard, allowing 9 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings.  
 
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT LIONVILLE

Bruce Kison came through with a solid 9 innings as the Lionville team defeated
the Guthriesville Golddiggers 2-0 at Foster Field.
 
Guthriesville was unable to claim the lead after Lionville went ahead in the
6th inning scoring one runner on 2 hits.  Lionville rapped out 7 hits for the
night.  
 
Kison(8-2) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. The losing
pitcher was Andy Messersmith(2-8).  He pitched 8 innings and surrendered 7
hits and 2 walks.
