Elverson jumped on top of Chester Springs in the bottom of the 2nd inning scoring 3 runs using 2 hits. John Milner opened up the inning nicely when he slapped a base-hit. Steve Garvey stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk. Cito Gaston then stroked a single. Gaston took second on the throw. Joe Ferguson followed and he would ground out. Wayne Garrett stepped into the box and hit a sacrifice fly. That was all the offense they were to need. Elverson banged out 14 hits on the afternoon. Halicki(5-6) got the victory, allowing 1 run for the game. Jack Billingham(1-6) was the losing pitcher. By giving up 6 runs in 3 innings his ERA increased from 4.91 to 5.74. EAGLE AT GLENMOORE Eagles.......... 0 0 1 1 0 0 1 0 0 - 3 6 0 Stableboys...... 0 1 2 0 0 3 0 0 - 6 13 0 Win:Montefusco(8-5) Loss:Zachry(5-6) Save:Garber(13th) In an entertaining game at Bentley Stadium the final score was the Glenmoore Stableboys 6, the Eagle Eagles 3. Eagle was unable to climb back into it after Glenmoore went ahead for good in the bottom of the 3rd inning scoring 2 runners on 2 hits. The big moment was provided by Johnny Grubb who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he lined a single bringing home two baserunners. Eagle was out-hit by Glenmoore, 13-6. The win was credited to John Montefusco(8-5) who went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs. Gene Garber recorded his 13th save. Pat Zachry(5-6) was the loser. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 9 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings. Carlton(8-2) earned his pay with a solid performance for Lionville. He surrendered 5 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings. Lionville totaled 8 hits on the night. Jim Kaat(3-10) was charged with the loss. He was a hard-luck loser as he did not allow an earned run in his 5 and 1/3 innings of work.
