In a close game the Marshallton Mad Hatters got by the Chester Springs
ballclub 7-5.
Marshallton came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 8th inning
scoring 3 runs on 2 hits. Ken Griffey kicked off the action when he clubbed
a solo home run. Marty Perez came next and he drew a walk. Ron Cey then
drew a walk. Two outs later Manny Sarmiento came to the plate and bounced
one in the dirt for a wild pitch. Vic Correll stepped into the box and drew
a walk. Roger Metzger kept the rally going and stroked a base-hit. Gary
Roenicke was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. Chester Springs had
a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
The winning pitcher was Adrian Devine(3-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. Rawly Eastwick was credited with his 16th save. Dale Murray(0-3)
was the losing pitcher in relief. He allowed 1 hit and no walks in 2
innings.
'You have to give Chester Springs credit, they fought us tough to the end'

the victory.'

Bill Robinson had 4 hits and 5 RBI at The Nest as the Devault Dynamiters
embarrassed the Honey Brook Beekeepers 18-4.
Robinson was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He laced a base-hit which brought home
a run in the 1st inning, tripled bringing in two baserunners in the 4th
inning, doubled resulting in a run in the 5th inning and stroked a single in
the 7th inning. Devault bats were very productive in the 1st inning which
saw them score 4 runs on 4 hits, the 2nd inning with 4 runs on 4 hits and the
8th inning when they had 4 runs on 4 hits. For the game Devault out-hit
Honey Brook 21-6.
The victory was credited to Woodie Fryman(4-6) who went 7 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 4 runs. Ray Burris(4-9) ended up with the loss. He gave up 4 hits
and no walks in 1/3 of an inning.
'I had good swings today,' Robinson said, 'Everything felt right'.

Willie Montanez had 4 hits and 5 RBI and Frank Lacorte was able to finish what
he started and was credited with a complete game as the Glenmoore Stableboys
clobbered the outmatched Guthriesville Golddiggers, 14-2.
Montanez helped send the fans home happy. He stroked a one-base hit which was
good for two runs in the 1st inning, delivered a single in the 4th inning,
ripped a base-hit bringing in a run in the 6th inning and laced a single
scoring two baserunners in the 7th inning. Glenmoore provided plenty of
action in the 4th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 6 hits and the 7th
inning with 5 runs on 7 hits. Glenmoore finished with 23 hits in the
victory.
Lacorte(3-5), allowing 2 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Jim
Kaat(3-9) suffered the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 8 runs
in 5 and 2/3 innings.

Bob Watson had 4 hits as the Kimberton Firefighters defeated the Elverson
Squires 8-4 at French Creek Park.
Carl Morton(3-2) put in a pedestrian relief performance just good enough for
the victory. He went 1 and 1/3 innings and surrended up 3 hits and 1 walk.
Kimberton had 15 hits overall, while Elverson had 9.
Morton got help from Skip Lockwood who was credited with his 15th save. Al
Hrabosky(2-1) was given the loss in relief.
EAGLE AT LIONVILLE

Right fielder Leon Roberts touched them all as the powerful Lionville team
defeated the Eagle Eagles 5-3 at Foster Field.
Bruce Kison(7-2) got the win despite looking shaky at times. He gave up 3
runs, 9 hits and 1 walk in 6 innings and surrendered 2 homeruns. Eagle
out-hit Lionville 11-8, but Lionville ended up with more runs.
Ron Reed got the save, his 7th. The losing pitcher was Pat Zachry(5-5). He
served up 3 homeruns in his 5 and 2/3 innings.
