In a game at Four Dogs Field the Eagle Eagles got by the Marshallton Mad
Hatters 6-3.
 
Dick Ruthven(5-6) pitched a solid game.  He went 6 and 1/3 innings and
surrended up 6 hits and no walks.  Ruthven got help from Ramon Hernandez who
pitched great and earned his 3rd save.  
 
Gary Nolan(4-7) was the losing pitcher.  He pitched 7 innings giving up 6 hits
and 2 walks.

In a close game it was the Elverson Squires 5, the Honey Brook Beekeepers 3 at
The Nest.
 
In the top of the 3rd inning Elverson scored 3 runs when they had 4 base hits.
Joe Ferguson started the attack as he smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly'.  Two
outs later Al Oliver stepped up to the plate and he ripped a base-knock.
Mike Tyson then tripled.  Mike Schmidt was up next and he doubled.  Elverson
had 10 hits for the night.  
 
Dave Tomlin(2-1) went 2 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Al
Hrabosky earned the save, his 6th.  Doc Medich(3-3) was given the loss.  He
was not very effective, surrendering 3 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.

Willie Montanez had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Glenmoore Stableboys beat the
Devault Dynamiters 8-7.
 
Glenmoore scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning with the help of 5
hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Montanez who excited the crowd
when he laced a one-base hit plating two runs.  Although they lost, Devault
did out-hit Glenmoore 14-10.  
 
The victory was credited to Gary Lavelle(3-0) who went 3 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Gene Garber preserved the game for Lavelle, recording his
his 12th.  Tom Griffin(2-3) was the loser in relief.  He surrendered 2 hits
and 1 walk without retiring a batter.  
 
CHESTER SPRINGS AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Designated hitter Rennie Stennett left the yard and had 2 RBI and Phil Niekro
tossed a complete game at Hopewell Field where the Chester Springs club beat
the league door-mat Guthriesville Golddiggers 5-1.
 
Chester Springs took the lead for keeps in the top of the 2nd inning as they
scored 2 runs on 1 base hits.  That early scoring held up.  Chester Springs
and Guthriesville each finished the night with 6 hits.  
 
Niekro(6-5) got the victory, allowing 1 run for the game. Andy
Messersmith(2-7) absorbed the loss.  He allowed 6 hits and 3 walks in 7 and
2/3 innings.
