Pete Rose had 4 hits as the Eagle Eagles outscored the Marshallton Mad Hatters
7-3.
 
Eagle went ahead for good in the top of the 5th inning scoring 2 runners on 2
hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Dick Allen who quieted the
crowd when he popped a two-run clout over the fence.  Eagle totaled 9 hits on
the night.  
 
The victory was credited to Pat Zachry(5-4) who went 5 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 3 runs. Randy Moffitt recorded his 15th save.  Tom Underwood(5-1)
took the loss.  He served up 3 homeruns in his 5 and 1/3 innings.  
 
 
ELVERSON AT HONEY BROOK

First baseman Steve Garvey had 2 base hits as the Elverson Squires beat the
Honey Brook Beekeepers by a score of 1-0.
 
Elverson wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning scoring one
runner on 2 base hits.  That was all the offense they were to need.  Honey
Brook had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.  
 
The win went to Ed Halicki(4-6) who allowed no runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. Al
Hrabosky got the save, his 5th.  Ray Burris(4-8) ended up with the loss.  
 
 
DEVAULT AT GLENMOORE

The Glenmoore Stableboys scored 4 runs in the 7th inning and nipped the
Devault Dynamiters 8-7 at Bentley Stadium in a hard fought contest.
 
Paul Reuschel(2-2) won the game with a masterful relief performance.  No one
got on base in his 1/3 of an inning.  Devault had a chance in the 9th but
they came up short.  
 
Gene Garber earned the save, his 11th.  Bruce Sutter(3-3) was the losing
pitcher in relief.  Barry Bentley was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse,
'Great game! If only we could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be
nice! Since that's not going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a
little while.'
 
CHESTER SPRINGS AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Rick Monday homered and had 2 RBI and Jim Rooker had an impressive outing at
Hopewell Field as the Chester Springs ballclub beat the Guthriesville
Golddiggers 3-0.
 
Guthriesville was unable to recover after Chester Springs went ahead in the
top of the 6th inning plating one baserunner using 2 hits.  Chester Springs
ended up with 10 hits for the game while Guthriesville had 4.  
 
Rooker(3-5) allowed no runs in 7 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory.
Charlie Hough recorded the save, his 13th.  Larry Christenson(1-5) was
charged with the loss.  
 
 
KIMBERTON AT LIONVILLE

Ted Simmons had 3 base hits and Burt Hooton went the distance as the Lionville
club defeated the Kimberton Firefighters 5-2 at Foster Field.
 
Hooton(7-2) pitched well for Lionville in their victory.  He allowed 7 hits
and 3 walks in 9 innings.  Lionville managed 12 hits in their victory.  
 
The loss was charged to Jim Lonborg(5-6).  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 12
hits and 4 walks in 8 innings.
