Third baseman Ron Cey smashed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Marshallton Mad
Hatters defeated the Chester Springs team 5-4 at Historic Village Park.
 
Cey had a big evening at the plate.  He blasted a two-run home run in the 1st
inning, smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 3rd inning, laced a single in
the 4th inning and doubled in the 7th inning.  Chester Springs threatened in
the 9th but Marshallton was able to put down the rally.  
 
J.R. Richard(7-6) got the win allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. Rollie Fingers was
credited with his 10th save.  Phil Niekro(8-5) suffered the loss.

89 fans watched an exciting game at Bentley Stadium.  The Glenmoore Stableboys
put 4 runs on the scoreboard in the 6th inning and topped the Eagle Eagles by
the slimmest of margins, 8-7.
 
Warren Cromartie made sure the Glenmoore fans enjoyed themselves.  He doubled
which plated a run in the 3rd inning and emptied the bases with a Grand Slam
home run in the 6th inning.  Eagle threatened in the 9th but their rally came
up short.  
 
The win went to John Urrea(10-2) who allowed 4 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.
Urrea got relief help from Gene Garber who gained credit for his 9th save.
Randy Moffitt(2-5) ended up with the loss in relief.  He was knocked around,
surrendering 5 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.

Bob Forsch had a complete game as the Elverson Squires defeated the
Guthriesville Golddiggers 5-2 at Hopewell Field.
 
Elverson scored 3 runs in the top of the 6th inning with the help of 4 hits.
They ended up being the winning runs.  Elverson had a total of 12 hits for
the game.  
 
Forsch(6-4) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. Jim Kaat(3-4)
absorbed the loss.  He pitched 5 and 1/3 innings allowing 10 hits and 1
walk.

In a close game the Honey Brook Beekeepers scored 6 runs in the 2nd inning and
got by the Lionville club 8-6.
 
In the top of the 2nd inning Honey Brook scored 6 runs when they had 4 base
hits.  The key at-bat was by Dusty Baker who silenced the crowd when he lost
the ball over the fence for three runs.  Honey Brook managed 10 hits in their
victory.  
 
Dave Campbell(3-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing
no runs. Tug McGraw earned the save, his 2nd.  Steve Carlton(10-5) was the
losing pitcher.
