John Candelaria went the distance and Bob Watson had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as
the Kimberton Firefighters won a dandy at Kimberton Fairground over the
Chester Springs team, 4-3.
 
The game was won by Kimberton when they scored a run in the bottom of the 9th
inning.  Reggie Smith drew a walk.  George Hendrick stepped up next and he
drew a walk.  Watson then ripped a base-knock making Kimberton the victors to
the delight of the home town faithful.  Kimberton had 10 hits for the
afternoon.  
 
The victory went to Candelaria(9-6) who went the distance allowing 3 runs.
Charlie Hough(3-2) absorbed the loss in relief.

The Kimberton Firefighters and the Chester Springs club locked up in an
exciting one-run game at Kimberton Fairground.  The final score was the
Kimberton Firefighters 2, the Chester Springs club 1 in 11 innings.
 
The score was knotted at 1 after nine innings.  Kimberton won the game in the
11th inning.  Bill Madlock slapped a single.  Rich Pawlak then called for a
steal which was successful.  Tucker Ashford got his chance to keep things
going, but he went down on strikes.  George Mitterwald was the next batter,
but he struck out.  Jose Cruz came up to bat and was walked intentionally.
Charlie Hough then threw a pitch that the catcher muffed giving Kimberton the
win much to the delight of the home town crowd.  For the game Kimberton
out-hit Chester Springs 10-5.  
 
Guillermo Hernandez(6-1) went 4 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Bo
McLaughlin(7-2) was charged with the loss in relief.  He was a hard-luck
loser as he did not allow an earned run in his 1 and 1/3 innings of work.

Left fielder George Foster lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 3 RBI as
the Eagle Eagles defeated the Devault Dynamiters 5 to 1 at Great Valley
Stadium.
 
Mike Krukow(3-2) delivered a fine performance for Eagle.  He allowed 6 hits
and no walks in 7 and 2/3 innings lowering his ERA to 4.20.  Randy Moffitt
came throught with a perfect ninth inning to earn his 4th save.  
 
Tommy John(8-6) ended up with the loss.  He gave up 12 hits and no walks in 6
and 2/3 innings.
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT HONEY BROOK

Third baseman Enos Cabell had 4 hits and 3 RBI at The Nest as the
Guthriesville Golddiggers beat the Honey Brook Beekeepers in 13 innings by
the count of 8-7.
 
The game was deadlocked at 5 after nine full innings. Guthriesville was
victorious in the 13th inning.  Bobby Murcer laced a one-base hit.  Murcer
was safe on a stolen base.  Guthriesville continued their aggressive style
with another stolen base.  After an out was recorded, Derrel Thomas came to
bat and delivered a base-hit.  Guthriesville got their 2nd stolen base of the
inning.  Pat Rockett continued the rally and lined a single.  Terry Forster
then picked Rockett off first base.  Mike Sadek was next to the plate, but
was promptly struck out.  Guthriesville won despite being out-hit by Honey
Brook 16-11.  
 
Kent Tekulve(3-8) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 1 inning. Tekulve
got help from Grant Jackson who earned his 2nd save.  The loss was charged to
Forster(0-1) in relief.  
 
GLENMOORE AT ELVERSON

Right fielder Ellis Valentine cracked a homer and Ed Halicki pitched 9 strong
innings as the Elverson Squires pulled out a win over the Glenmoore
Stableboys 2-1 at French Creek Park.
 
The game was decided in the 9th inning.  Marc Hill banged out a single.  After
an out was recorded, Mike Tyson came to the plate and slapped a one-base hit.
John Milner then ripped a single making Elverson victorious to the delight
of the the home town crowd.  The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th
inning.  
 
Halicki(7-7) lasted until the end allowing 1 run for the win. John Urrea(10-3)
was the losing pitcher in relief.  'He had his 'A' game today,' John Carney
said of Halicki.  'Very impressive performance.'

In a lop-sided win the Lionville club ripped the Marshallton Mad Hatters 9-3.
 
Lionville jumped on top to stay in the top of the 4th inning when they came up
with 3 runs on 3 hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Ed Kranepool who
silenced the stadium when he belted a three-run homer.  Lionville totaled 9
hits on the afternoon.  
 
Randy Jones(6-5) allowed 3 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Paul
Moskau(2-5) was given the loss.  He was knocked around pretty good, giving up
8 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings.
