Right fielder Reggie Smith had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Kimberton Fairground
as the Kimberton Firefighters beat the Chester Springs team 7-2.
 
Kimberton set the tone of the game in the first inning scoring 2 runners on 4
hits.  Kimberton had 12 hits for the game and Chester Springs had 6.  
 
Jim Lonborg(5-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 2 runs. Jack Billingham(5-3) ended up with the loss.  He gave up 5
runs and 8 hits in 6 and 2/3 innings.

Del Unser slammed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Jon Matlack pitched 9 strong
innings at Great Valley Stadium as the Devault Dynamiters beat the Eagle
Eagles 6-0.
 
Unser enjoyed a great day at the plate.  Every time he came up in the latter
innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering.  He singled which brought home
a run in the 2nd inning, ripped a solo home run in the 4th inning, bombed a
two-run dinger in the 6th inning and laced a one-base hit in the 8th inning.
Devault finished with 11 hits in the victory.  
 
Matlack(9-4) went the distance for the shutout. Pat Zachry(3-7) was the loser.
Bob Phillips was obviously impressed with the pitching of Matlack, 'That guy
made us look a little silly out there this afternoon.  We just couldn't get
to him at all - everything was working for him.  I just hope that he got that
kinda performance out of his system.'
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT HONEY BROOK

The Guthriesville Golddiggers had very little trouble at The Nest downing the
Honey Brook Beekeepers.  The score was 13-6.
 
Davey Lopes was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he
provided much of the offense for the visitors.  He doubled bringing in a run
in the 4th inning, tripled which was good for two runs in the 8th inning and
slapped a base-hit in the 9th inning.  The Guthriesville offense smacked the
Honey Brook pitching staff around, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.  
 
Jim Kaat(4-4) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Ray
Burris(6-7) took the loss.  He was knocked around by Guthriesville, allowing
13 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.  
 
GLENMOORE AT ELVERSON

Johnny Bench lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 3 RBI and Floyd
Bannister allowed Barry Bentley to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
at French Creek Park where the Glenmoore Stableboys beat the Elverson Squires
by the score of 7-2.
 
The Elverson fans didn't appreciate the big day Bench had.  He doubled which
plated a run in the 1st inning and cracked a two-run shot in the 5th inning.
Glenmoore rapped out 12 hits for the afternoon.  
 
Bannister(4-8) finished the game allowing 2 runs in the victory. Jim
Barr(4-10) was given the loss.  He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 4 hits
and 1 walk.
 
LIONVILLE AT MARSHALLTON, 1st

Center fielder Andre Dawson hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI as the Lionville
ballclub outscored the Marshallton Mad Hatters in 11 innings 5-4.
 
The score was tied at 4 after nine.  Lionville came out the victor in the 11th
inning.  Ted Simmons laced a base-knock.  Dawson next to the plate and he
doubled.  Marshallton proved to be no trouble in the bottom of the 11th.
 
The victory went to Terry Cornutt(3-1) who went 2 innings, allowing no runs.
Rawly Eastwick(3-4) was charged with the loss in relief.  He gave up 3 hits
and 1 walk in 3 and 1/3 innings.  
 
LIONVILLE AT MARSHALLTON, 2nd

In a one-sided affiar at Four Dogs Field the final score was the Lionville
team 8, the Marshallton Mad Hatters 2.
 
Lionville took the lead for keeps in the top of the 3rd inning when they came
up with 2 runs on 2 hits.  That was all the runs Bruce Kison(5-5) needed.
Lionville finished with 13 hits while Marshallton ended up with 8.  
 
The loss was charged to Buddy Schultz(3-2).  He was hit hard and gave up 8
hits and 2 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
