First baseman Bob Watson hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI as the Kimberton
Firefighters outscored the Chester Springs ballclub 13-4.
 
Eric Rasmussen(7-6) pitched a fine game.  He went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 7
hits and 3 walks.  Kimberton had 14 hits overall, while Chester Springs had
9.  
 
Rasmussen got help from Skip Lockwood who earned his 10th save.  Jerry
Reuss(4-5) suffered the loss.  He allowed 9 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 2/3
innings.

First baseman Bill Robinson cracked 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the Devault
Dynamiters beat the Eagle Eagles 20-13.
 
Robinson was really in 'the zone'.  He clubbed a two-run home run in the 2nd
inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 8th inning.
Devault kept the scorekeepers busy in the 1st inning which saw them plate 5
runs on 5 hits, the 4th inning which saw them score 4 runs on 4 hits and the
8th inning when they had 4 runs on 3 hits.  Devault kept the pressure on
throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.  
 
The winning pitcher was Bruce Sutter(3-2) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. Dick Ruthven(3-6) was tagged with the loss.  He gave up 5 runs in
2/3 of an inning and saw his ERA jump from 3.17 to 3.69.  
 
MARSHALLTON AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Julio Gonzalez had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Guthriesville Golddiggers
topped the Marshallton Mad Hatters by a score of 3-1 at Hopewell
Field.
 
Marshallton fell behind quickly as the Guthriesville offense came through in
the first inning scoring a single run on 2 hits.  Marshallton made it
exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
 
The win was credited to Steve Rogers(10-6) who went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing
1 run. Kent Tekulve recorded his 9th save.  Bob Shirley(8-4) was charged with
the loss.  
 
'Anytime you lose it hurts,' said John Young 'but it's losing the close ones
that really hurt.'
 
GLENMOORE AT HONEY BROOK

Johnny Bench jacked one out of the ballyard and had 3 RBI and Rick Rhoden
pitched a complete game at The Nest as the Glenmoore Stableboys beat the
Honey Brook Beekeepers by the count of 6-1.
 
Glenmoore started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of
the first when they tallied 2 runs on 2 hits.  That early run support was all
that Rhoden(6-5) required.  After the 2nd inning, neither team was able to
score.  
 
Bob Knepper(3-7) took the loss.  He surrendered 6 runs and 6 hits in 1 and 2/3
innings.
 
LIONVILLE AT ELVERSON

At French Creek Park, the Elverson fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel.  Bob
Forsch(8-4) finally bested his Lionville opposite, Craig Swan(3-5), 3-0.
 
Elverson came up with 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning when they came up
with 3 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Mike Schmidt was the sparkplug
when he doubled.  Joe Ferguson stepped up next and he doubled.  One out
later, Wayne Garrett came to bat and lined a base-hit.  Al Hrabosky was great
in relief and recorded his 5th save.  
 
Swan ended up with the loss.  He pitched 8 innings giving up 8 hits and 1
walk.
