7/5/77: Dawson's Go-Ahead Homer Boosts Lionville Over Honey Brook, 4-3

Nice 2-inning save by Reed gets Holdsworth his 1st win. Reed inherited jammed bases with nobody out, so his getting Pops Stargell to ground into a double play was huge. Then Reed didn't make it easy in the 9th and had us all on edge, but he got it done. Good work by Collins taking over for Lefty. The long ball was our friend tonight. I was getting antsy waiting for us to get to Freisleben - but we finally did. Tony Scott looked like he got hurt pretty badly. The guy has been a disappointment. But if he makes it back this season maybe he'll catch fire and be the catalyst for a pennant drive. Speaking of the pennant race, at the halfway point we're 42-39 - 10½ games back. We have do at least 10 games better in the second half and beat Ghoulach and his guys all 6 games we play against them to have a shot. Tall order, but we're certainly capable.
