In a tight game it was the Devault Dynamiters 6, the Kimberton Firefighters 4
at Great Valley Stadium.
 
Kimberton fell behind quickly as the Devault offense came through in the first
inning scoring one runner using 2 hits.  Devault had 11 hits for the night.
 
Joaquin Andujar(3-5) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory.
Andujar was helped out by Bruce Sutter who recorded his 19th save.  Bob
Myrick(2-2) was tagged with the loss.

Dave Parker had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Hickory Park as the Eagle Eagles beat
the Chester Springs ballclub 9-3.
 
Pat Zachry(4-7) was solid if not spectacular.  He went 6 innings surrendering
9 hits and 2 walks.  Eagle and Chester Springs each finished the night with
10 hits.  
 
Bill Atkinson was credited with his 14th save.  Jim Rooker(7-6) was the losing
pitcher.  He was not very effective, surrendering 5 runs in 4 and 2/3
innings.  
 
GLENMOORE AT MARSHALLTON

The Marshallton Mad Hatters got by the Glenmoore Stableboys at Four Dogs
Field.  The final score was 4-2.
 
Marshallton took the lead for good in the 6th inning plating an isolated run
on 2 base hits.  Marshallton had a total of 10 hits for the game.  
 
The win went to J.R. Richard(9-6) who allowed 2 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings.
Richard got relief help from Rollie Fingers who gained credit for his 12th
save.  Bill Bonham(8-7) was hit with the loss.  He was unable to control the
Marshallton offense and allowed 8 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
 
'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it
was nothing.' Richard said.  'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't put
the ball where I wanted it.'
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT ELVERSON

In a thrilling finish the Elverson Squires won in dramatic fashion coming back
to beat the Guthriesville Golddiggers 3-2.
 
Elverson won the game with a rally in the 9th inning plating 2 runs on 4 hits.
Wayne Garrett led off and keyed the rally when he ripped a single.  Gary
Alexander followed next and he laced a one-base hit.  Lee Mazzilli then
doubled.  Al Oliver was up next and he delivered a single.  Elverson out-hit
Guthriesville for the game, 12-9.  
 
Al Hrabosky(3-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. Kent
Tekulve(3-10) was given the loss in relief.  He pitched 1 inning and
surrendered 4 hits and 1 walk.
 
'Now that is what I call fun! I just love baseball, especially games like
this, of course,' John Carney offered.  'Everyone at the stadium had a great
time - did you see the fans go wild there at the end?!'
 
LIONVILLE AT HONEY BROOK

Homeruns- G.Luzinski(22nd), D.Baker(18th), G.Matthews-2(11th)
 
Gary Matthews launched 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Honey Brook Beekeepers
beat the Lionville club 9-6.
 
The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Matthews.  He delivered a one-base hit in the 4th inning, ripped
a solo home run in the 6th inning and belted a three-run homer in the 7th
inning.  Honey Brook rapped out 10 hits for the night.  
 
The win was credited to Pete Falcone(1-2) who went 2 innings allowing 2 runs.
Terry Forster recorded the save, his 1st.  Terry Cornutt(3-2) absorbed the
loss in relief.  
 
'I felt great out there tonight' Matthews said.  'I was seeing the ball
perfectly, and I was right on it with my swing.
