The Kimberton Firefighters pitching staff was overwhelmed by the Devault
Dynamiters lineup who plated 10 runs while Joaquin Andujar(2-5), with relief
help from Butch Metzger, surrendered 2 runs to Kimberton.
 
Andujar gave a fine effort for Devault.  He went 7 and 2/3 innings and
surrended up 6 hits and 4 walks seeing his ERA drop from 4.68 to 4.46.
Overall Devault out-hit Kimberton 10-6.  
 
The loss was charged to Wayne Twitchell(2-5).  He surrendered 5 runs and 6
hits in 6 and 2/3 innings.

The Chester Springs team and the Marshallton Mad Hatters locked up in an
exciting one-run game at Historic Village Park.  The final score was the
Chester Springs team 3, the Marshallton Mad Hatters 2 in 12 innings.
 
The score was tied at 2 after nine.  Chester Springs won it in the 12th
inning.  Rick Monday lined a one-base hit.  After an out was recorded, Jerry
Royster came to the plate and doubled.  Lenny Randle struck out, unable to
help the rally.  Larry Bowa stepped in and he lined a base-hit resulting in
an exciting win for Chester Springs and a wild post-game celebration by the
home town fans.  Chester Springs had a total of 10 hits for the game.  
 
The victory went to Bo McLaughlin(6-1) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Steve Renko(0-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He gave up 1 run
and 3 hits in 2 innings.

Don Sutton delivered 9 solid innings at Bentley Stadium as the Eagle Eagles
came back dramatically to top the Glenmoore Stableboys 3-1.
 
Eagle won the game with a rally in the 9th inning with 3 runs on 3 base hits.
After an out was recorded, Pete Rose started the attack as he doubled.  Dave
Roberts stepped into the batter's box and he drew a walk.  Ed Herrmann then
doubled.  Glenn Burke was up next and he laced a base-knock.  Eagle totaled 9
hits on the night.  
 
The victory was credited to Sutton(8-4) who went the distance, allowing 1 run.
Gene Garber(4-2) was tagged with the loss in relief.  
 
Barry Bentley was not very talkative after his team's tough loss.  'I'm not in
the mood for questions, but I'm sure Bob Phillips will be glad to talk about
the game as long as you have questions to ask.'
 
ELVERSON AT GUTHRIESVILLE

The Guthriesville Golddiggers bested the Elverson Squires by a 7-3 score at
Hopewell Field.
 
Grant Jackson(4-3) did the job in relief, and he got credit for the win.  He
allowed 3 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings.  For the game Guthriesville out-hit
Elverson 10-6.  
 
Jim Barr(4-9) ended up with the loss.  He pitched 6 innings giving up 5 hits
and 3 walks.
 
HONEY BROOK AT LIONVILLE

Right fielder Jay Johnstone blasted a homerun and Jerry Koosman went the
distance at Foster Field as the Honey Brook Beekeepers beat the Lionville
club 7-3.
 
Honey Brook took the lead for good in the 7th inning scoring 2 runners on 2
hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Junior Moore who helped quiet the
crowd when he bombed a two-run dinger.  Honey Brook rapped out 11 hits for
the night.  
 
Koosman(7-6) got the victory, allowing 3 runs for the game. Ron Reed(3-4) was
charged with the loss.  He surrendered 8 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 1/3
innings.
