The game started off with Eagle taking the lead in the first plating one baserunner utilizing 2 base hits. Eagle finished with 12 hits while Glenmoore ended up with 7. Pat Zachry(10-9) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Bill Bonham(6-10) was the losing pitcher. He got hammered, allowing 12 hits and 4 walks in 8 innings. The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings. Chester Springs came out on top in the 15th inning. Monday laced a single. After an out was recorded, Gary Thomasson came to bat and laced a one-base hit. Jerry Royster then slapped a base-hit making Chester Springs the victors to the delight of the home town faithful. Marshallton was out-hit by Chester Springs, 15-10. Joe Niekro(7-5) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Adrian Devine(4-1) took the loss in relief. He allowed 1 run and 4 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings. The Elverson Squires topped the Kimberton Firefighters by the slimmest of margins, 6-5. Elverson promptly took the lead in their half of the first scoring 2 runners on 2 hits. Elverson banged out 12 hits on the night. Bob Forsch(7-6) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Al Hrabosky earned the save, his 14th. John Candelaria(14-5) was hit with the loss. Devault erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning plating 2 runs on 2 hits. Tony Perez led off and started the attack as he doubled. One out later, Larry Parrish followed, but he was set down on strikes. Doug Clarey then clubbed a two-run home run giving Devault the victory and sending the 1,404 home-town fans home happy. Devault finished with 7 hits in the victory. The victory went to Dan Warthen(3-2) who went 1/3 of an inning, allowing no runs. Tug McGraw(7-7) was given the loss in relief. 'We just wouldn't give up,' Garry Maddox said. 'Much of the credit goes to our fans - they were with us the whole way.' GUTHRIESVILLE AT LIONVILLE Golddiggers..... 0 0 0 1 1 2 0 0 0 - 4 10 2 Tiger-Cats...... 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 - 1 7 2 Win:Rogers(7-12) Loss:Swan(5-7) Save:Forsch(19th) The Guthriesville Golddiggers halted a 7-game slide and defeated the Lionville ballclub 4-1 at Foster Field. Guthriesville went ahead for good in the 4th inning plating an isolated run on 2 base hits. Guthriesville ended up with 10 hits for the game while Lionville had 7. The win was credited to Steve Rogers(7-12) who went 8 innings allowing 1 run. Rogers got help from Ken Forsch who earned his 19th save. Craig Swan(5-7) was tagged with the loss. 'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' Gary Scott sighed. 'That win feels like a tall, cool drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert lately.'
