Candelaria(14-4) simply dominated Honey Brook. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 2 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings. The pitchers took over after the 3rd inning as neither team was able to score again. Ray Burris(8-19) was the loser. He gave up only 6 hits and no walks in 8 innings. Richard carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning as the Marshallton Mad Hatters defeated the Devault Dynamiters 5-2 at Great Valley Stadium. Richard(12-10) was solid in the win. He gave up just 3 hits and 1 walk in 8 innings. Richard recorded 10 strikeouts. The right-handed Richard lost a no-hitter when Bill Robinson homered with two outs in the 7th inning. Overall Marshallton out-hit Devault 8-4. Rawly Eastwick earned his 35th save. Lynn McGlothen(9-9) was the losing pitcher. Richard was asked about his big strikeout performance, 'Well, it's a little odd when you rack up these numbers on the road - instead of cheers and a running tally in the stands, everything gets real still and quiet. Just strange - but it's nice to be able to take the crowd out of the game.' Joe Niekro(6-5) put in a pedestrian relief performance just good enough for the victory. He was reached for 4 hits and 6 walks in 4 innings. Chester Springs managed 9 hits in their victory. Niekro got help from Manny Sarmiento who earned his 2nd save. Dave Heaverlo(2-4) was charged with the loss in relief. He allowed Chester Springs 4 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings of work. In the top of the 5th inning Eagle went on top for good when they came up with 2 runs on 4 hits. Eagle provided plenty of action in the 8th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 6 hits. For the game Eagle out-hit Guthriesville 21-8. Don Stanhouse(4-3) went 6 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Ramon Hernandez recorded his 7th save. The losing pitcher was Jim Kaat(5-21). He gave up 11 hits and no walks in 5 innings. LIONVILLE AT GLENMOORE Tiger-Cats...... 0 0 2 0 1 0 0 0 0 - 3 9 1 Stableboys...... 0 0 0 0 2 2 2 0 - 6 12 0 Win:Reuschel(3-4) Loss:Kison(12-5) Save:Garber(31st) Homeruns- T.Simmons(4th), J.Grubb(4th) Johnny Grubb went yard and had 2 RBI as the Glenmoore Stableboys defeated the Lionville club 6-3 at Bentley Stadium. Lionville was unable to recover after Glenmoore went ahead in the bottom of the 6th inning scoring 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits. Willie Montanez kicked off the action when he laced a base-knock. Johnny Bench was next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Grubb then bombed a two-run dinger. Richie Hebner stepped in and he drew a walk. Glenmoore finished with 12 hits while Lionville ended up with 9. The victory was credited to Paul Reuschel(3-4) who went 3 innings, allowing no runs. Gene Garber recorded the save, his 31st. Bruce Kison(12-5) was given the loss. He allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.
