Sosa(2-2) slammed the door shut in an excellent relief performance. He was flawless in relief in his 3 innings lowering his ERA to 4.00. Elverson had a total of 9 hits for the game. John D'Acquisto(1-5) suffered the loss in relief. He allowed 1 run and 1 hit without retiring a batter. The Glenmoore Stableboys topped the ice-cold Guthriesville Golddiggers by the slimmest of margins, 4-3. Rick Rhoden(9-6) pitched a solid game. He went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 walks. Guthriesville tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th. Gene Garber was credited with his 30th save. Steve Rogers(6-11) was the losing pitcher. Gary Scott was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one. That is what really ticks me off!' Kison(12-4) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 5 hits and no walks in 8 innings. Eagle had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. Ron Reed earned the save, his 13th. The losing pitcher was Rick Reuschel(13-10). 'We won because we did the little things right.' Jon Brams said after the game. 'This is why we practice things over and over and over, so when we get in close games we don't make mistakes.'
