Kimberton jumped on top of Elverson in the top of the 3rd inning as they scored 3 runs on 4 base hits. For the game Kimberton out-hit Elverson 12-9. Eric Rasmussen(4-8) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Rasmussen got help from Don Carrithers who earned his 1st save. Ed Halicki(8-10) was the loser. He allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. CHESTER SPRINGS AT MARSHALLTON Two-Fivers...... 0 0 0 1 0 1 6 6 0 - 14 16 0 Mad Hatters..... 1 0 0 0 1 0 1 2 0 - 5 14 2 Win:Niekro(11-11) Loss:Williams(1-4) In an embarrassing outing for the Marshallton Mad Hatters pitching staff, Chester Springs club flexed their collective muscle amassing 14 runs as Phil Niekro(11-11), with relief help from Will McEnaney, allowed Marshallton 5 runs. Marshallton was unable to claim the lead after Chester Springs went ahead in the top of the 7th inning when they tallied 6 runs on 6 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Hector Cruz who deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he smacked a single bringing in two baserunners. Chester Springs totaled 16 hits on the night. Charlie Williams(1-4) took the loss in relief. He gave up 9 runs and 7 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings. The Honey Brook Beekeepers put a halt to their 7 game losing streak and won by the slimmest of margins, 8-7. Jay Johnstone had a big evening at the plate. He lashed a single which scored a run in the 1st inning, tripled in the 2nd inning and bombed a two-run dinger in the 4th inning. Devault tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th. Pete Falcone(6-13) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Falcone was helped out by Darold Knowles who recorded his 4th save. The loss was charged to Joaquin Andujar(5-9). He got hammered, allowing 9 hits and 4 walks in 4 innings. 'It's been a rough ride lately, but this was a good win for us' said Chris McLaughlin, 'Maybe this will put us back on track.' GLENMOORE AT GUTHRIESVILLE Stableboys...... 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 - 1 7 0 Golddiggers..... 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 - 0 5 1 Win:Lolich(8-7) Loss:Messersmith(6-10) Save:Garber(29th) Mickey Lolich(8-7) and Andy Messersmith(6-10) locked horns in a pitcher's duel with Lolich and the Glenmoore Stableboys coming out on top of the pathetic Guthriesville Golddiggers 1-0. Messersmith gave up the game's only run when Glenmoore scored in the 5th inning. Guthriesville made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. Gene Garber was credited with his 29th save. 'Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals' said Gary Scott after the game. 'We lost this game tonight because we didn't follow the instructions every Little Leaguer hears every day.' LIONVILLE AT EAGLE Tiger-Cats...... 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 - 1 6 0 Eagles.......... 0 1 0 6 1 1 0 0 - 9 12 0 Win:Zachry(9-8) Loss:Swan(4-6) Homeruns- G.Foster(24th), D.Driessen(13th) George Foster jacked one out of the ballyard and Pat Zachry was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete game at Hickory Park where the Eagle Eagles beat the Lionville team 9-1. Zachry(9-8) was very good in the win. He surrendered only 6 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings. Eagle banged out 12 hits on the night. Craig Swan(4-6) suffered the loss. He was touched for 7 hits and 3 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
