Left fielder Jose Cruz homered and had 2 RBI at French Creek Park as the
Kimberton Firefighters staged a comeback win over the Elverson Squires 7-5.
 
Kimberton came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning when they came up
with 4 runs on 3 hits.  The biggest moment was provided by Cruz who deflated
the spirits of the home town crowd when he lifted one out of the park for a
two-run home run.  Kimberton totaled 10 hits on the afternoon.  
 
Skip Lockwood(4-4) got the win allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Al
Hrabosky(6-3) was given the loss in relief.  'Rich Pawlak was estatic
following the game, 'You love stealing one on the road like this.  We just
kept plugging away until we pulled it out!'

Tom Underwood threw a complete game shutout at Four Dogs Field where the
Marshallton Mad Hatters beat the Chester Springs ballclub 8-0.
 
Ron Cey helped send the fans home happy.  He slapped a one-base hit resulting
in a run in the 1st inning, caught a hold of a fastball for a Grand Slam
homerun in the 5th inning and singled in the 7th inning.  Marshallton rapped
out 11 hits for the night.  
 
Underwood(8-3) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. The
losing pitcher was Jack Billingham(4-7).  He gave up 7 runs in 4 innings of
work.

Lynn McGlothen was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game and Rod Gilbreath had 5 hits and 6 RBI as the Devault
Dynamiters man-handled the reeling Honey Brook Beekeepers 21-4.
 
Gilbreath enjoyed a big evening at the plate.  He ripped a base-hit in the 1st
inning, lined a one-base hit in the 3rd inning, smacked a single scoring a
run in the 4th inning, hit a base-hit plating two runs in the 5th inning and
doubled plating three runs in the 8th inning.  Devault bats were hot in the
4th inning which saw them score 5 runs on 4 hits and the 8th inning when they
had 6 runs on 3 hits.  Offensively, Devault was a juggernaut.  They scored in
6 separate innings.  
 
McGlothen(9-8) allowed 4 runs on the game. Dave Freisleben(4-8) was tagged
with the loss.  Devault scored big getting 7 runs off him in 3 innings.
 
GLENMOORE AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Warren Cromartie had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at Hopewell Field as the Glenmoore
Stableboys beat the awful Guthriesville Golddiggers 6-3.
 
Glenmoore brought 4 runs across the plate in the 2nd inning when they came up
with 3 base hits.  That early scoring held up.  Glenmoore had 11 hits for the
night while Guthriesville had 7.  
 
John Montefusco(12-8) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the win.
Montefusco was helped out by Frank Lacorte who recorded his 2nd save.  Jim
Kaat(5-19) was hit with the loss.  He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings and
surrendered 3 hits and 1 walk.

Joe Morgan connected with a 'big fly' and Randy Jones pitched a complete game
as the Lionville club beat the Eagle Eagles 7-3.
 
Lionville jumped out to the early lead in the first inning plating an isolated
run.  Lionville had a total of 14 hits for the game.  
 
The winning pitcher was Jones(20-6) who allowed 3 runs for the game. Dick
Ruthven(9-9) was the losing pitcher.  He was unable to control the Lionville
offense and allowed 8 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
