Don Gullett(7-5) and Rick Reuschel(13-9) treated the Eagle fans to a fine
pitching duel at Hickory Park.  The Glenmoore Stableboys eventually emerged
as victors over the Eagle Eagles 2-0.
 
Gullett had a solid outing for Glenmoore.  He went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing
2 hits and 5 walks.  Gullett was helped out by Gene Garber who pitched a
perfect ninth and recorded his 27th save.  
 
KIMBERTON AT MARSHALLTON

The Kimberton Firefighters came roaring back in the top of the ninth to beat 
the Marshallton Mad Hatters 5-3 at Four Dogs Field.
 
Kimberton had the game winning rally in the 9th inning plating 3 runs
utilizing 5 base hits.  Jerry Grote got things going when he doubled.  Greg
Gross came to the plate and laced a one-base hit.  Manny Trillo then laid
down a sacrifice bunt.  Jerry Mumphrey stepped in and he doubled.  Jose Cruz
came up to bat and doubled.  One out later, Bill Madlock stepped up to the
plate and he ripped a single.  Kimberton totaled 9 hits on the afternoon.
 
The victory went to Don Carrithers(6-7) who went 3 innings, allowing 1 run.
Carrithers was helped out by Skip Lockwood who recorded his 27th save.  Rawly
Eastwick(5-7) was the loser in relief.  
 
Rich Pawlak was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in his office
after the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just
sat there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are celebrating
wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence.  Weird. but GREAT!'
 
CHESTER SPRINGS AT HONEY BROOK

Bob Boone cracked a homer and had 2 RBI as the Chester Springs club outscored
the Honey Brook Beekeepers 5-3.
 
Jerry Reuss(9-7) delivered a fine performance for Chester Springs.  He went 7
and 1/3 innings surrendering 11 hits and 3 walks.  Chester Springs won
despite being out-hit by Honey Brook 12 hits to 8.  
 
Manny Sarmiento earned his 1st save.  Jerry Koosman(10-6) was hit with the
loss.  He surrendered 5 runs and 6 hits in 7 and 1/3 innings.  'He gutted it
out' Jim Ghoulach said of Reuss.  'I was very impressed by his tenacity.'

Center fielder Garry Maddox had 2 base hits and Jon Matlack completed the game
without help from the bullpen as the Devault Dynamiters bested the Elverson
Squires 5-3 at French Creek Park.
 
The game started off with Devault taking the lead in the first when they
tallied 2 runs on 2 hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Craig Reynolds
who helped quiet the crowd when he cracked a two-run shot.  The Elverson bats
were silent in the bottom of the 9th.  
 
Matlack(11-7) was the winner allowing 3 runs for the game. Jim Barr(9-13) was
given the loss.
 
LIONVILLE AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Center fielder Jerry Morales launched 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Burt Hooton
tossed a complete game at Hopewell Field as the Lionville team, running on
all cylinders, ripped the Guthriesville Golddiggers 12-2.
 
Morales had a good day at the plate.  He lifted one out of the park for a two
run home run in the 1st inning and blasted a solo shot in the 3rd inning.
Lionville kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they scored in 6
different innings.  
 
The win went to Hooton(13-5) who allowed 2 runs in the game. Jim Kaat(5-18)
was tagged with the loss.  He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 6
runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.
