May 9, 1976 Recaps

MARSHALLTON AT EAGLE, 1st

Dave Parker had 4 hits and 3 RBI and Pat Zachry completed the game without
help from the bullpen as the Eagle Eagles (12-13) defeated the
Marshallton Mad Hatters (12-12) by a score of 11-2 at Hickory Park.
 
Eagle set the tone of the game in the first inning when they tallied 3 runs on
2 hits.  That was all the offense they were to need.  Eagle banged out 14
hits on the afternoon.  
 
Zachry(3-1) allowed 2 runs on the game. Charlie Williams(0-2) was tagged with
the loss.  He allowed 10 hits and 5 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.

The Eagle Eagles (13-13) and the Marshallton Mad Hatters (12-13) locked up in
an exciting one-run game at Hickory Park.  The final score was the
Eagle Eagles 4, the Marshallton Mad Hatters 3 in 11 innings.
 
The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings.  Eagle won the hard fought
contest in the 11th inning.  Dan Driessen drew a walk.  Driessen swiped
second base.  After an out was recorded, Darrel Chaney stepped in and he
ripped a base-hit giving Eagle the victory and sending the 1,565 home-town
fans home happy.  Eagle finished with 9 hits in the victory.  
 
Randy Moffitt(3-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 3 and 2/3
innings. Bruce Dal Canton(0-2) was the loser in relief.  He pitched 1 and 1/3
innings and surrendered 2 hits and 1 walk.
 
Wth the win Eagle now has a record of 13-13.  With the loss, Marshallton has a
record of 5-5 lately, 12-13 overall.
 
GLENMOORE AT KIMBERTON, 1st

John Montefusco pitched a complete game as the Glenmoore Stableboys (11-11)
topped the Kimberton Firefighters (9-15) by a score of 9-3 at
Kimberton Fairground.
 
Glenmoore took the lead for good in the 2nd inning plating one baserunner
using 2 hits.  Glenmoore totaled 14 hits on the afternoon.  
 
The win was credited to Montefusco(3-2) who went the whole way allowing 3
runs. Eric Rasmussen(1-3) was given the loss.  He gave up 6 hits and 2 walks
in 5 innings.
 
GLENMOORE AT KIMBERTON, 2nd

Win:Demery(2-2) Loss:Gullett(1-2)
 
Left fielder Pepe Mangual had 2 base hits and Larry Demery whitewashed
Glenmoore at Kimberton Fairground where the Kimberton Firefighters (10-15)
beat the Glenmoore Stableboys (11-12) by the score of 9-0.
 
Demery(2-2) pitched a solid game.  He didn't allow much, just 5 hits and 4
walks in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 3.28 to 2.41.  Kimberton had a
total of 11 hits for the game.  
 
Don Gullett(1-2) was the losing pitcher. He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 2
and 2/3 innings and not allowing an earned run.  
 
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT DEVAULT

Win:Andujar(2-2) Loss:Christenson(0-3)
 
Joaquin Andujar tossed a complete game as the Devault Dynamiters (14-9)
defeated the Guthriesville Golddiggers (7-17) 5-1 at Great Valley Stadium.
 
Devault wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning as they scored 2
runs on 3 base hits.  That was all Andujar(2-2) needed.  Devault had 9 hits
for the afternoon.  
 
Larry Christenson(0-3) was hit with the loss.  He surrendered 9 hits and 1
walk in 8 innings.
 
HONEY BROOK AT ELVERSON

Joe Ferguson had 2 base hits as the Elverson Squires (12-13) defeated the Honey
Brook Beekeepers (14-10) in 11 innings by the score of 4-3 at French Creek Park.
 
Both teams had scored 3 runs after nine full innings.  Elverson won it in the
11th inning.  Mike Schmidt blasted a solo shot making Elverson the victors to
the delight of the home town faithful.  Overall Elverson out-hit Honey Brook
8 to 5.  
 
Al Hrabosky(2-0) went 3 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Doc
Medich(2-1) ended up with the loss.  With this win, Elverson has a 12-13
record.  They have been 5-5 lately.  With the loss, the Honey Brook
ballclub's record is 14-10.
 
LIONVILLE AT CHESTER SPRINGS

Ted Simmons hit 2 doubles and Burt Hooton pitched a 3 hitter at Historic
Village Park where the sizzling Lionville (18-6) ballclub beat
the Chester Springs (11-14) club 3-1.
 
Lionville came up with 2 runs in the 2nd inning with the help of 3 hits.  That
early scoring held up.  Lionville managed 12 hits in their victory.
 
Hooton(4-1) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Jack
Billingham(0-3) was the losing pitcher.  Lionville remained hot, improving
their record to a league leading 18-6.  They now have a record of 9-1 in
recent days.  Chester Springs has a record of 11-14 after the loss.
