April 26, 1976 Recaps


CHESTER SPRINGS AT MARSHALLTON

Steve Renko came through with a solid 9 innings as the Marshallton Mad Hatters
(5-8) beat the Chester Springs (5-8) team by a score of 6-2.
 
Marshallton jumped on top of Chester Springs in the 4th inning plating one
baserunner.  Marshallton had a total of 10 hits for the game.  
 
The winning pitcher was Renko(2-0) who allowed 2 runs for the game. Jim
Rooker(0-3) suffered the loss.  He surrendered 10 hits and no walks in 8
innings.

The Devault Dynamiters (7-5) bested the Honey Brook Beekeepers (9-3) by a
8-4 score at The Nest, ending their 6-game winning streak.
 
Honey Brook never recovered after Devault took the lead in the 6th inning
scoring a single run using 2 hits.  Richie Zisk slapped a single.  After
another out, Darrell Evans was a strikeout victim, unable to help out.  Rod
Gilbreath then drew a walk.  Tim McCarver followed and he was hit by a pitch.
Bill Russell came to the plate and stroked a one-base hit.  It was roller
coaster of a game as the lead change hands 5 times.  
 
The winning pitcher was Joaquin Andujar(1-1) who allowed 4 runs in 8 innings.
Andujar got help from Bruce Sutter who was credited with his 3rd save.  Jerry
Koosman(1-1) was given the loss.  He was knocked around, surrendering 8 runs
in 7 innings.
