April 30, 1976 Recaps

EAGLE AT MARSHALLTON

Jerry White cracked a homer and had 2 RBI at Four Dogs Field where the Eagle
Eagles (8-8) beat the Marshallton Mad Hatters (7-9) 6-5.
 
Eagle scored 2 runs in the decisive top of the 6th inning when they had 3 base
hits.  It was enough to earn the victory.  Marshallton had a chance in the
9th but they came up short.  
 
Dick Ruthven(1-1) was the winner allowing 5 runs in 8 innings. Randy Moffitt
was credited with his 7th save.  Gary Nolan(0-3) was charged with the loss.
 
When questioned about the loss, John Young said, 'The fans got to see an
exciting game out there tonight.  Unfortunately, we couldn't get it done this
time.  Next time, though, we'll be the clubhouse with all the smiles.'
 
ELVERSON AT HONEY BROOK

In a good matchup it was the Honey Brook Beekeepers (10-6) 6, 
the Elverson Squires (8-9) 4 at The Nest.
 
Pete Falcone(3-1) had a steady outing.  He went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 10
hits and 3 walks and surrendered 2 homeruns.  Elverson threatened in the 9th
but Honey Brook was able to put down the rally.  
 
Falcone was helped out by Tug McGraw who recorded his 4th save.  Ed
Halicki(1-2) suffered the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 12 hits and 4
walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.  
 
'You have to give Elverson credit, they fought us tough to the end' Chris
McLaughlin said.  'It could have gone either way, but I'm glad we pulled out
the victory.'

Baseballs were flying all over the ballpark as the Devault Dynamiters (9-6) ran
roughshod over the seemingly hapless Glenmoore Stableboys (8-6), 13-5.
 
Devault jumped out to the early lead in the first inning scoring one runner.
Offensively, Devault was a juggernaut.  They scored in 6 separate innings.
 
Lynn McGlothen(2-2) allowed 3 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Dan Warthen gained credit for his 2nd save.  Frank Lacorte(0-1)
ended up with the loss.  He allowed Devault 9 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings of
work.  
 
 
CHESTER SPRINGS AT GUTHRIESVILLE

749 fans were treated to a fine game at Hopewell Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Chester Springs (8-8) club won by
the slimmest of margins, 7-6, over the Guthriesville Golddiggers (4-11),
in 11 innnings.
 
The game was deadlocked at 5 after nine full innings.  Chester Springs was
victorious in the 11th inning.  Bob Boone smacked a single.  After an out was
recorded, Mike Jorgensen came to bat and laced a one-base hit.  Jose Cardenal
then reached on an error.  Chester Springs out-hit Guthriesville for the
game, 13 hits to 10.  
 
The win was credited to Charlie Hough(1-0) who went 2 innings allowing 1 run.
Kent Tekulve(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.  
 
The Chester Springs ballclub's record now stands at 8-8.  Gary Scott was
unhappy with his club's recent performance.  'We can't keep losing games' he
said.  'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'
 
KIMBERTON AT LIONVILLE

The Lionville (10-5) team got by the Kimberton Firefighters (6-10) at 
Foster Field. The final score was 5-3.
 
Bruce Kison(1-1) pitched a solid game.  He allowed 7 hits and 3 walks in 8
innings reducing his ERA from 5.14 to 3.00.  Both teams ended up with 8 hits
on the night.  
 
Kison got relief help from Ken Sanders who gained credit for his 1st save.
Don Carrithers(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.
