April 22, 1976 Recaps

 
KIMBERTON AT HONEY BROOK

Cliff Johnson had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Honey Brook Beekeepers (6-2) beat the
Kimberton Firefighters (5-4) by a score of 7-2.
 
Kimberton fell behind quickly as the Honey Brook offense came through in the
first inning plating 2 runs on 3 base hits.  Cesar Geronimo opened up the
inning nicely when he slapped a one-base hit.  Jay Johnstone stepped into the
batter's box and he stroked a base-hit.  Johnstone took second on the throw.
Gary Matthews got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim.  Willie
Stargell stepped in and he drew a walk to load the bases.  Johnson came up to
bat and stroked a base-hit.  Honey Brook had 12 hits overall, while Kimberton
had 7.  
 
Pete Falcone(2-0) allowed 2 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Falcone got relief help from Tug McGraw who gained credit for his
2nd save.  Eric Rasmussen(0-1) was the losing pitcher.

George Foster hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI as the Eagle Eagles (5-4) defeated the
Lionville (6-2) ballclub by a score of 9-8 at Hickory Park.
 
Eagle erupted with the game winning runs in the 8th inning when they came up
with 5 runs on 4 hits.  The biggest moment was provided by Dick Allen who
made the crowd come alive when he rifled a three-run blast.  Lionville had a
chance in the 9th but they came up short.  
 
Mike Marshall(1-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 2 runs. Randy Moffitt recorded the save, his 4th.  Joe Sambito(0-1)
was the loser in relief.
