528 fans were treated to a fine game at The Nest as only one run separated the
combatants at game's end. The Honey Brook Beekeepers (5-2) won by the slimmest of
margins, 4-3, over the Kimberton Firefighters (5-3).
The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings. Honey Brook was victorious in
the 10th inning. After two were out Andre Thornton lofted a solo-blast
'downtown' making Honey Brook the victors to the delight of the home town
faithful. Honey Brook and Kimberton each finished the night with 8 hits.
Darold Knowles(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3
innings. Steve Stone(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 2/3
innings allowing 1 hit and 1 walk.
MARSHALLTON AT DEVAULT

Garry Maddox had 2 base hits at Great Valley Stadium as the Devault Dynamiters (6-2)
came back dramatically to top the Marshallton Mad Hatters (3-6) by the score of
4-3.
Devault erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
with 3 runs using 3 hits. Richie Zisk led off and he tripled. Tony Perez
stepped up next and he ripped a base-knock. After an out was recorded, Tim
McCarver came up and he cracked a two-run shot. Devault had 7 hits for the
night.
Butch Metzger(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing
no runs. The loss was charged to Rawly Eastwick(0-1) in relief.
Barney Charney was in great spirits in his post-game interview. Yet, when
asked about his feelings after the thrilling comeback victory, he
volunteered, 'I'll tell you this much - I know how my counterpart, John
Young, feels right now - and it's not very good. It's terrible when you come
up on the short end of one of these!'

Center fielder Al Oliver had 4 hits as the Elverson Squires (3-6) outscored the
Chester Springs (3-6) club 8-3.
Elverson took the lead for good in the 5th inning when they scored 2 runs on 3
hits. For the game Elverson out-hit Chester Springs 15 to 11.
The victory was credited to Bob Forsch(2-0) who went 6 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 2 runs. Elias Sosa earned his 1st save. Jim Rooker(0-2) was charged
with the loss. He was knocked around by Elverson, allowing 13 hits and 2
walks in 6 innings.
GLENMOORE AT GUTHRIESVILLE

In a dramatic ending, the Guthriesville Golddiggers (3-5) staged a comeback win over
the Glenmoore Stableboys (2-5) by the count of 6-3.
Guthriesville scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning scoring 4 runners
on 1 hit. The biggest moment was provided by Lou Brock who made the
home-town crowd a happy bunch when he electrified the crowd with a Grand Slam
home run. Guthriesville managed 10 hits in their victory.
The winning pitcher was Ken Forsch(1-0) who allowed 2 runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. Gene Garber(1-1) was given the loss in relief. He gave up 1 hit and
2 walks in 2/3 of an inning.
LIONVILLE AT EAGLE

Manny Sanguillen went yard and had 3 RBI and Pat Zachry threw a 3 hitter as
the Eagle Eagles (4-4) defeated the Lionville (6-1) ballclub 6-2 at Hickory
Park.
Sanguillen helped send the fans home happy. He laced a base-knock which
brought home a run in the 2nd inning, doubled in the 4th inning and bombed a
two-run dinger in the 8th inning. Eagle had a total of 8 hits for the game.
The winning pitcher was Zachry(1-1) who allowed 2 runs for the game. Bruce
Kison(0-1) suffered the loss. He allowed 4 runs and 6 hits in 7 innings.
