Tom Underwood hurled a 3 hitter as the Marshallton Mad Hatters (6-8) defeated the
Kimberton Firefighters (6-8) by a score of 4-1 at Four Dogs Field.
Marshallton had 3 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 4th inning when
they came up with 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Tito Fuentes got
things going when he reached on an error. Fred Norman then was wild with a
pitch. Doug Flynn then stroked a base-hit. Rowland Office came up and he
hit a single. One out later, Ken Griffey stepped up to the plate and he
ripped a single. The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team
was able to score again.
Underwood(2-0) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Norman(0-2)
was the loser. He surrendered 4 runs and 8 hits in 8 innings.

It was a real barn-burner evening in The Nest as Chester Springs (6-8) ballclub
finally pulled ahead to stay, winning a very exciting game over the
Honey Brook Beekeepers (9-4), 17-12.
Dave Winfield enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He ripped a base-knock in
the 3rd inning, lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 4th inning and delivered
a one-base hit in the 5th inning. Chester Springs provided plenty of action
in the 4th inning which saw them score 6 runs on 5 hits and the 5th inning
with 5 runs on 6 hits. Chester Springs kept the pressure on throughout the
contest as they scored in 6 different innings.
The win went to Roger Moret(1-0) who allowed 2 runs in 5 innings. Pete
Falcone(2-1) was hit with the loss. He was knocked around by Chester
Springs, allowing 7 hits and 3 walks in 3 innings.
GUTHRIESVILLE AT GLENMOORE

Bake McBride had 4 hits and 2 RBI and Don Gullett tossed a fine 2 hitter at
Bentley Stadium as the Glenmoore Stableboys (6-5) belted the Guthriesville
Golddiggers (4-8) by the count of 11-1.
Gullett(1-1) came through with a virtuoso performance against the
Guthriesville hitters. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 2 hits and
3 walks in 9 innings dropping his ERA from 4.76 to 1.84. Glenmoore finished
with 14 hits in the victory.
Larry Dierker(0-3) was tagged with the loss. He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings and
surrendered 8 hits and 2 walks.

Elverson Squires (7-7) won a dramatic crowd-pleaser over Devault Dynamiters (7-6) at
French Creek Park pulling it out in their last at bats, 4 to 3.
The game was decided in the 9th inning. Joe Ferguson drew a walk. After an
out was recorded, Tim Foli came to bat and laced a single. Foli took second
on the throw. Lee Mazzilli then hit a deep fly giving Elverson the win and
sending the home town fans into a frenzy. Although they lost, Devault did
out-hit Elverson 10 to 6.
Al Hrabosky(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 3 and 1/3 innings. Tom
Griffin(0-1) took the loss. He pitched 8 and 2/3 innings giving up 6 hits
and 7 walks.
EAGLE AT LIONVILLE

876 fans were treated to a fine game at Foster Field as only one run separated
the combatants at game's end. The Eagle Eagles (6-7) won by the slimmest of
margins, 3-2 over the Lionville Tiger-Cats (8-4).
Eagle won the game with a run in the top of the 9th inning. Dick Allen
doubled. Dave Parker came next and he was walked intentionally. After an
out was recorded, Omar Moreno stepped up to the plate and he was walked
intentionally to load the bases. After another out, Bill Plummer came up and
he laced a base-knock. Eagle had a total of 7 hits for the game.
The victory went to Pat Zachry(2-1) who went 8 innings, allowing 2 runs. Randy
Moffitt recorded the save, his 5th. Ron Reed(0-1) suffered the loss in
relief.
