At Hickory Park, the Eagle fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel. Bill
Bonham(1-1) of Glenmoore (5-5) finally bested his Eagle (5-7) opposite,
Rick Sutcliffe(0-1), by the score of 2-0.
Glenmoore jumped on top of Eagle in the top of the 3rd inning plating an
isolated run. Wilbur Howard doubled. Ted Sizemore followed and he laid down
a sacrifice bunt. Dave Concepcion then hit a deep fly. The early run
support proved sufficient for Bonham and Glenmoore. That was all the run
support Bonham required. Pedro Borbon was perfect in relief and got the
save, his 1st.
Sutcliffe took the loss. He pitched 8 and 2/3 innings giving up 9 hits and no
walks. 'He gutted it out' Barry Bentley said of Bonham. 'I was very
impressed by his tenacity.'

The Chester Springs (5-7) team bested the Marshallton Mad Hatters (4-8) by a 6-3 score
at Four Dogs Field.
Bob Moose(1-0) pitched a fine game. He surrendered 4 hits and 1 walk in 5 and
2/3 innings dropping his ERA from 5.40 to 4.00. Chester Springs had just 6
hits for the afternoon.
Joe Niekro recorded the save, his 1st. Brent Strom(1-2) was charged with the
loss. He allowed Chester Springs 6 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings of work.
The Chester Springs ballclub's record now stands at 5-7. With the loss, the
Marshallton ballclub's record is 4-8.
DEVAULT AT HONEY BROOK

Dave Freisleben threw a 3 hitter at The Nest as the Honey Brook Beekeepers (9-2)
beat the Devault Dynamiters (6-5) by the count of 4-2.
Devault was unable to claim the lead after Honey Brook went ahead in the 3rd
inning scoring one runner. Honey Brook managed only 6 hits on the afternoon.
The win was credited to Freisleben(1-1) who went the whole way allowing 2
runs. Jon Matlack(2-1) was given the loss. 'He had his 'A' game today,'
Chris McLaughlin said of Freisleben. 'Very impressive performance.'
KIMBERTON AT ELVERSON, 1st

Catcher George Mitterwald smacked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and John Candelaria
allowed just 2 hits as the Kimberton Firefighters (6-6) really laid it on the
Elverson Squires (5-7) 13-1.
Mitterwald provided much of the offense. He lifted one out of the park for a
two run home run in the 5th inning and clubbed a solo home run in the 9th
inning. Kimberton rapped out 16 hits for the afternoon.
The win went to Candelaria(2-0) who allowed 1 run in the game. Doug Rau(1-2)
absorbed the loss. He was unable to control the Kimberton offense and
allowed 6 hits and 4 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
John Carney lamented, 'Candelaria was really aggressive today. He kept coming
after our hitters. Heck, why not. he kept sitting our guys down one after
another - like so many bowling pins!'

In a game for the baseball purist, John Denny(1-2) and Jim Lonborg(2-1)
squared off in a tense pitching duel, Elverson Squires (6-7) finally emerged
victorious over Kimberton Firefighters (6-7), 2-0.
Denny pitched a solid game. He didn't allow much, just 3 hits and 3 walks in 8
innings lowering his ERA from 5.74 to 3.80. Elverson had only 5 hits for the
afternoon.
Denny was helped out by Al Hrabosky who recorded his 3rd save.
GUTHRIESVILLE AT LIONVILLE

Steve Rogers pitched a complete game as the Guthriesville Golddiggers (4-7) defeated
the Lionville (8-3) club 7-1 at Foster Field.
Rogers(1-2) put on a good performance. He allowed only 5 hits and 4 walks in
9 innings lowering his ERA to 2.82. Guthriesville finished with 9 hits in
the victory.
Craig Swan(0-1) ended up with the loss. He was knocked around pretty good,
giving up 7 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.
