Don Sutton went 9 strong innings at Hickory Park as the Eagle Eagles beat the
Glenmoore Stableboys by the count of 5-1.
 
Dan Driessen made sure the Eagle fans enjoyed themselves.  He doubled in the
2nd inning and clubbed a three-run home run in the 6th inning.  Eagle had
only 6 hits for the night.  
 
Sutton(6-2), allowing 1 run for the game, picked up the victory. Rick
Rhoden(4-2) took the loss.  'He came out with good stuff,' Bob Phillips said
about Sutton. 'He threw the ball good from the first pitch on.'

Jim Barr pitched a complete game as the Elverson Squires bested the Kimberton
Firefighters 8-1 at Kimberton Fairground.
 
Elverson started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of
the first as they scored 2 runs on 1 base hits.  That scoring would be all
that was needed.  Despite losing, Kimberton out-hit Elverson 10 to 7.
 
Barr(6-5) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Don Carrithers(2-4)
was the loser.  He pitched 7 innings giving up 5 hits and 6 walks.
 
HONEY BROOK AT DEVAULT

Richie Zisk went deep and had 3 RBI at Great Valley Stadium where the Devault
Dynamiters beat the Honey Brook Beekeepers in 12 innings by the score of 8-7.
 
The score was tied at 7 after nine.  Devault won the game in the 12th inning.
Dave Kingman smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' making Devault the winners and
sending the 196 fans home happy.  Devault had a total of 10 hits for the
game.  
 
The winning pitcher was Rick Baldwin(1-0) who allowed no runs in 3 innings.
Tug McGraw(3-3) was tagged with the loss in relief.  
 
 
MARSHALLTON AT CHESTER SPRINGS

The Chester Springs club and the Marshallton Mad Hatters locked up in an
exciting one-run game at Historic Village Pk.  The final score was the
Chester Springs club 4, the Marshallton Mad Hatters 3.
 
Phil Niekro(5-4) gave Chester Springs a solid outing.  He went 7 innings and
surrended up 6 hits and 1 walk.  Marshallton had a chance to come back in the
9th but they came up short.  
 
Bob Moose recorded the save, his 1st.  The loss was charged to Gary
Nolan(4-5).  He surrendered 8 hits and 1 walk in 6 innings.  
 
John Young was subdued when questioned after the game, 'Sure, this kind of
loss takes a while to get over, but heck, we're all professionals.  We've
been through this many times - it's the nature of the game.  We'll be fine -
as for me - I'll be ready to go again tomorrow!'
 
LIONVILLE AT GUTHRIESVILLE

In a close game the Lionville team got by the Guthriesville Golddiggers by the
score of 5-3.
 
Bruce Kison(5-2) had a solid outing for Lionville.  He went 7 and 1/3 innings
allowing 9 hits and no walks.  Lionville totaled 8 hits on the night.  
 
Ken Sanders got the save, his 2nd.  Steve Rogers(2-7) ended up with the loss.
He gave up 3 runs and 6 hits in 6 and 2/3 innings.
