Center fielder Garry Maddox had 2 base hits as the Devault Dynamiters staged a
dramatic comeback over the Eagle Eagles by a score of 3-2 at Hickory Park.
 
Devault had the game winning rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs on 2 base
hits.  Darrell Evans got things going when he reached on an error.  Don
Werner came to the plate and ripped a one-base hit.  Bill Russell then laid
down a sacrifice bunt.  Doug Clarey was up next and he was walked
intentionally.  After another out, Maddox stepped in and he lined a base-hit.
Maddox took second on the throw.  Neither team was able to score until the
6th inning.  
 
The win was credited to Lynn McGlothen(6-4) who went 8 innings allowing 2
runs. Bruce Sutter earned his 11th save.  Randy Moffitt(3-4) was hit with the
loss in relief.  Devault knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 3 runs in 2
and 2/3 innings.  
 
After the game, it took a long while before Bob Phillips emerged from his
office.  In a subdued tone he answered only a couple of questions.  He
concluded with, 'Fellows, sorry I'm not in a very talkative mood this
afternoon, as I think you'll understand.  I'm sure you'll find the banter a
lot more light-hearted over in the Devault locker room.'

Doc Medich went 9 solid innings and Jay Johnstone had 3 base hits and 6 RBI as
the Honey Brook Beekeepers smashed the overmatched Glenmoore Stableboys, 10-0.
 
Johnstone had a good day at the plate.  He ripped a base-hit plating a run in
the 3rd inning, ripped a single scoring two baserunners in the 8th inning and
doubled clearing all three ducks off the pond in the 9th inning.  Honey Brook
rapped out 9 hits for the afternoon.  
 
Medich(3-2) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. John
Montefusco(6-4) took the loss.  'He came out with good stuff,' Chris
McLaughlin said about Medich. 'He threw the ball good from the first pitch
on.'
 
KIMBERTON AT CHESTER SPRINGS

The Chester Springs team got by the Kimberton Firefighters at Historic Village
Park.  The final score was 5-3.
 
Jerry Reuss(5-2) gave a fine effort for Chester Springs.  He was reached for 8
hits and 2 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.  Chester Springs managed 8 hits in
their victory.  
 
Reuss got help from Dale Murray who earned his 1st save. Don Carrithers(2-3)
absorbed the loss.  He gave up 5 hits and 3 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.  
 
 
MARSHALLTON AT GUTHRIESVILLE

The Guthriesville Golddiggers ended a long winless drought and bested the
Marshallton Mad Hatters by a 7-4 score at Hopewell Field.
 
Guthriesville plated all the runs they needed in the 6th inning as they showed
no mercy on Marshallton blasting them for 7 hits and plating 7 runs.  The big
moment was provided by Enos Cabell who electrified Hopewell Field when he
delivered a base-hit which was good for two runs.  Marshallton went down
without a fight in the 9th.  
 
The win went to Larry Dierker(2-8) who allowed 4 runs in 8 innings. Ken Forsch
was credited with his 6th save.  Rob Dressler(1-3) ended up with the loss in
relief.  
 
 
ELVERSON AT LIONVILLE

Lionville club broke the deadlock in their last at bats, pulling out a 4-3
win over the Elverson Squires and sending their hometown fans home
smiling.
 
Lionville scored the deciding run in the 9th inning.  After an out was
recorded, Jerry Morales doubled.  After another out, Dave Tomlin came up and
he let one slip out of his hand for a wild pitch.  Ken Reitz then laced a
one-base hit giving Lionville the win as 913 happy fans joyfully celebrated.
Lionville and Elverson each finished the night with 9 hits.  
 
Joe Sambito(2-1) went 2 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the win.
Tomlin(1-1) was charged with the loss in relief.  This win by Lionville
continues their recent hot streak.  In their last ten games, they have a
record of 8-2.  For the season, they are a league leading 38-13.  With the
loss, the Elverson ballclub's record is 23-29.
