In a good matchup it was the Glenmoore Stableboys 6, the Elverson Squires 4 at
Bentley Stadium.
 
Rick Rhoden(4-1) had a solid outing for Glenmoore.  He allowed 7 hits and 2
walks in 8 and 1/3 innings and served up 3 'big flies'.  Elverson threatened
in the 9th but Glenmoore was able to put down the rally.  
 
Gene Garber recorded his 8th save.  John Denny(2-5) took the loss.  He was hit
hard and gave up 12 hits and 5 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.  
 
 
KIMBERTON AT CHESTER SPRINGS

The Chester Springs ballclub nipped the Kimberton Firefighters 4-3 at
Historic Village Park in a hard fought contest.
 
Kimberton was unable to claim the lead after Chester Springs went ahead in the
bottom of the 2nd inning scoring one runner.  Mike Jorgensen doubled.  After
an out was recorded, Fred Norman came up and he uncorked a pitch that was
ruled a passed ball.  Rennie Stennett then hit a sacrifice fly.  Kimberton
threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.  
 
Tom Seaver(6-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 2 runs. Seaver got help from Charlie Hough who earned his 11th save.
Norman(1-6) absorbed the loss.  
 
 
HONEY BROOK AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Jerry Koosman went the distance and third baseman Doug Rader lofted one into
the 'cheap seats' and had 3 RBI at Hopewell Field where the Honey Brook
Beekeepers beat the floundering Guthriesville Golddiggers 10-3.
 
Koosman(6-2) gave a fine effort for Honey Brook.  He went 9 innings allowing 7
hits and 2 walks.  Honey Brook banged out 12 hits on the night.  
 
Steve Rogers(2-6) was charged with the loss.  He allowed 12 hits and 4 walks
in 8 and 1/3 innings.  Honey Brook now has a record of 22-27.  Gary Scott was
unhappy with his club's recent performance.  'We can't keep losing games' he
said.  'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'

In a two run game the Lionville team got by the Marshallton Mad Hatters by the
score of 4-2.
 
Lionville scored the winning runs in the bottom of the 8th inning with 3 runs
using 4 hits.  Joe Morgan began the Lionville spurt when he clubbed a solo
home run.  Chris Speier stepped up next and he drew a walk.  Ted Simmons then
lashed a single.  Greg Luzinski was up next and he delivered a base-hit.
Leon Roberts stepped into the box and ripped a single.  Roberts took second
on a stolen base.  Ed Kranepool was the next batter, but he struck out.
Jerry Morales then was walked intentionally to load the bases.  Jim Wynn was
up next and he grounded into a double play.  Lionville managed 9 hits in
their victory.  
 
The victory went to Tom Walker(1-0) who went 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing no
runs. The loss was charged to Gary Nolan(4-4).  He pitched 7 innings giving
up 7 hits and 2 walks.
