Bill Plummer knocked 2 homeruns and scored 3 times at Hickory Park as the
Eagle Eagles beat the Glenmoore Stableboys by the count of 6-3.
 
Plummer made sure the Eagle fans enjoyed themselves.  He lined a single in the
3rd inning, clubbed a solo home run in the 5th inning and cracked a solo
homerun in the 7th inning.  Eagle out-hit Glenmoore for the game, 10 hits to
7.  
 
The win was credited to Dick Ruthven(4-5) who went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing
3 runs. Ruthven got help from Randy Moffitt who earned his 13th save.  Frank
Lacorte(2-4) was the losing pitcher.  He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings and
surrendered 3 hits and 2 walks.
 
The Eagle ballclub's record now stands at 27-30.  With the loss, the Glenmoore
ballclub's record is 26-27.
 
ELVERSON AT KIMBERTON

Jim Lonborg was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game and Reggie Smith blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI at Kimberton
Fairground as the Kimberton Firefighters beat the Elverson Squires 6-3.
 
Kimberton tallied 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning.  The highlight
belonged to Smith who made the Kimberton fans a happy lot when he belted a
three-run homer.  Elverson was set down quietly in the 9th.  
 
Lonborg(5-5), allowing 3 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Ed
Halicki(3-6) was the loser.  He pitched 8 innings giving up 7 hits and 3
walks.
 
Wth the win Kimberton now has a record of 30-28.  With this loss, Elverson has
a 4-6 record of late, 24-32 overall.
 
HONEY BROOK AT DEVAULT

Ray Burris went the distance and Dave Cash had 4 hits and 5 RBI at Great
Valley Stadium as the Honey Brook Beekeepers, running on all cylinders,
ripped the Devault Dynamiters by a large 13-3 margin.
 
Cash had a big day against Devault.  He doubled which scored a run in the 1st
inning, doubled in the 3rd inning, laced a one-base hit bringing in two
baserunners in the 6th inning and lined a base-hit which was good for two
runs in the 9th inning.  Honey Brook had 16 hits for the night.  
 
The win went to Burris(4-7) who allowed 3 runs in the game. Woodie Fryman(3-6)
was given the loss.  He gave up 6 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.
 
MARSHALLTON AT CHESTER SPRINGS

The Marshallton Mad Hatters and the Chester Springs team locked up in an
exciting one-run game at Historic Village Pk.  The final score was the
Marshallton Mad Hatters 3, the Chester Springs team 2.
 
Marshallton had 1 run cross the plate in the 7th inning.  Brent Strom(7-3) got
help from Rawly Eastwick who pitched great and earned his 13th save.  
 
Jim Rooker(2-5) was hit with the loss.  He pitched 6 innings allowing 5 hits
and 3 walks.
 
LIONVILLE AT GUTHRIESVILLE

The hometown crowd was rewarded with a dramatic ending, as the Guthriesville
Golddiggers staged a comeback win over the Lionville ballclub by the count of
10-9.
 
The difference in the game was the offensive outburst by Guthriesville in the
bottom of the 9th inning as they creamed Lionville blasting them with 7 runs
on 5 hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Bobby Tolan who made the
Guthriesville fans a happy lot when he brought the hometown folks to their
feet with a Grand Slammer.  Despite losing, Lionville out-hit Guthriesville
17 to 10.  
 
Bob Apodaca(3-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. The loss was
charged to Ron Reed(6-3) in relief.  He surrendered 2 runs and 3 hits in 1/3
of an inning.  
 
Gary Scott was ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard fought game
like that.  Our guys just weren't going to be denied.  And did you see the
fans - they were going wild! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win this afternoon!'
