Eric Rasmussen had an impressive outing as the Kimberton Firefighters
outscored the Eagle Eagles 3-1.
 
Kimberton came up with all the runs they needed in the 7th inning scoring 3
runners on 3 hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Reggie Smith who
electrified Kimberton Fairground when he ripped a base-hit scoring two
baserunners.  The game was a scoreless duel until the 7th inning.  
 
The win went to Rasmussen(10-6) who allowed 1 run in the game. Mike
Krukow(3-3) was the losing pitcher.  'When Rasmussen is on like that it is a
tough game to play, no doubt about it,' Bob Phillips said. 'He always pitches
well against us.'

Tony Perez hit a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Devault Dynamiters defeated the
Chester Springs team in 10 innings 5-1 at Historic Village Park.
 
Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings.  Finally, Devault
prevailed in the 10th inning.  The highlight belonged to Perez who deflated
the mood of the partisan fans when he delivered a single bringing home two
baserunners.  Chester Springs was out-hit by Devault, 12-6.  
 
Tom Griffin(7-2) allowed no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Charlie Hough(3-5) ended up with the loss in relief.  He gave up 5
hits and 2 walks in 1 and 2/3 innings.  
 
ELVERSON AT GLENMOORE

Johnny Bench homered and had 2 RBI at Bentley Stadium where the Glenmoore
Stableboys beat the Elverson Squires in 10 innings by the score of 3-2.
 
The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings.  Glenmoore won the game in the
10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Bench doubled.  Richie Hebner
followed and he doubled giving Glenmoore the win as 1,228 happy fans joyfully
celebrated.  Glenmoore had a total of 8 hits for the game.  
 
John Urrea(11-6) got the win allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Bob
Forsch(9-6) took the loss.  He pitched 9 and 1/3 innings giving up 8 hits and
6 walks.
 
HONEY BROOK AT GUTHRIESVILLE

973 fans were treated to a fine game at Hopewell Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Guthriesville Golddiggers won by
the slimmest of margins, 9-8.
 
Honey Brook was unable to climb back into it after Guthriesville went ahead
for good in the 7th inning plating one baserunner on 2 base hits.  Honey
Brook had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.  
 
The victory went to Bob Apodaca(2-1) who went 4 and 1/3 innings, allowing 2
runs. Ken Forsch preserved the game for Apodaca, recording his his 6th.  Dan
Spillner(0-3) absorbed the loss in relief.  
 
Roger Freed launched 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI for Honey Brook but his effort
was wasted in the loss.
 
MARSHALLTON AT LIONVILLE

In a one-sided affair the Lionville club batters pounded the Marshallton Mad
Hatters pitchers for 11 runs while Bruce Kison(6-6)with relief help held
Marshallton to 1 run.
 
Kison gave Lionville a solid outing.  He allowed 8 hits and 3 walks in 6 and
2/3 innings.  Lionville had 15 hits for the game and Marshallton had 8.
 
Tom Underwood(4-7) was charged with the loss.  He got hit hard, allowing 13
hits and 2 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
