Derrel Thomas had 2 base hits as the Guthriesville Golddiggers bested the
Kimberton Firefighters in 10 innings 6-4 at Kimberton Fairground.
 
Both teams had scored 4 runs after nine full innings.  Guthriesville ended up
winning it in the 10th inning.  Don Kessinger kicked off the action when he
ripped a one-base hit.  Enos Cabell was next and he drew a walk.  Bobby
Murcer then drew a walk to load the bases.  Lou Brock followed and he drew a
walk.  Cesar Cedeno stepped into the box and hit a deep fly.  Guthriesville
rapped out 9 hits for the afternoon.  
 
Steve Rogers(14-8) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 9 and 2/3 innings. Bob
Apodaca got the save, his 4th.  Skip Lockwood(4-6) suffered the loss in
relief.  
 
GLENMOORE AT DEVAULT

Designated hitter Willie Montanez had 3 base hits as the Glenmoore Stableboys
defeated the Devault Dynamiters 6-4 at Great Valley Stadium.
 
Bill Bonham(10-7) earned his pay with a solid performance for Glenmoore.  He
went 8 and 1/3 innings surrendering 10 hits and 2 walks.  Devault tried
unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.  
 
Gene Garber was credited with his 15th save.  Joaquin Andujar(4-6) was the
losing pitcher.  He got hit hard, allowing 9 hits and 5 walks in 5 and 1/3
innings.  
 
Barry Bentley was beaming after the game, 'Not only were we making good
contact, but a lot of balls we hit seemed to have 'eyes'! I just love winning
these tight ones! It was just our evening - no doubt about it!'

The Elverson Squires pitching staff was overwhelmed by the Eagle Eagles lineup
who plated 12 runs while Rick Reuschel(9-6), with relief help from Donnie
Moore, allowed Elverson 4 runs.
 
George Foster enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He laced a one-base hit which
brought home a run in the 1st inning, ripped a base-knock scoring a run in
the 2nd inning and doubled plating two runs in the 3rd inning.  Eagle had 16
hits overall, while Elverson had 11.  
 
The losing pitcher was Bob Forsch(9-7).  His ERA increased from 2.69 to 3.10
as he allowed 7 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings.
 
HONEY BROOK AT MARSHALLTON

In a good matchup it was the Honey Brook Beekeepers 5, the Marshallton Mad
Hatters 2 at Four Dogs Field.
 
In the top of the 2nd inning Honey Brook scored 3 runs.  That early run
support was all that Ray Burris(8-10) required.  Honey Brook won despite
being out-hit by Marshallton 10-4.  
 
Burris got relief help from Dave Campbell who gained credit for his 7th save.
J.R. Richard(11-9) was the loser.  He surrendered 4 hits and 6 walks in 8 and
1/3 innings.  
 
LIONVILLE AT CHESTER SPRINGS

Second baseman Joe Morgan smashed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Historic Village
Park as the Lionville team beat the Chester Springs ballclub 12-3.
 
Morgan was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day
at their team's expense.  He ripped a solo home run in the 6th inning and
bombed a two-run dinger in the 9th inning.  Offensively, Lionville was a
juggernaut.  They scored in 6 separate innings.  
 
The victory went to Ron Reed(5-5) who went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs. Don
Collins recorded his 3rd save.  Jerry Reuss(6-6) absorbed the loss.  He
allowed 8 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings.
