Wayne Twitchell pitched a 3 hitter and Tucker Ashford had 2 base hits as the
Kimberton Firefighters bested the ice-cold Elverson Squires in 10 innings 3-2 
at Kimberton Fairground.
 
Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings.  Kimberton won the
hard fought contest in the 10th inning.  After two were out George Hendrick
doubled.  Bob Watson came next and he was walked intentionally.  Steve
Henderson then banged out a single giving Kimberton the win much to the
delight of the home town crowd.  Kimberton rapped out 8 hits for the night.
 
Twitchell(4-5) allowed 2 runs on the game. Dave Tomlin(3-1) ended up with the
loss in relief.  He allowed 1 hit and 1 walk in 1 inning.  
 
MARSHALLTON AT DEVAULT

Ken Griffey had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Marshallton Mad Hatters outscored the
Devault Dynamiters 6-4.
 
Marshallton brought 3 runs across the plate in the top of the 2nd inning when
they had 5 base hits.  The biggest moment was provided by Gene Richards who
helped quiet the crowd when he tripled scoring two baserunners.  Overall
Marshallton out-hit Devault 14-7.  
 
J.R. Richard(11-8) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 8 innings. Rollie
Fingers earned the save, his 17th.  Randy Lerch(5-14) was hit with the loss.
 
HONEY BROOK AT CHESTER SPRINGS

Willie McCovey cracked a homer and had 2 RBI and Joe Niekro completed the game
without help from the bullpen as the amazing Chester Springs ballclub
defeated the Honey Brook Beekeepers 3-2 at Historic Village Park.
 
Honey Brook fell behind quickly as the Chester Springs offense came through in
the first inning scoring a single run.  Honey Brook threatened in the 9th but
Chester Springs was able to put down the rally.  
 
The win was credited to Niekro(10-1) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs.
Ray Burris(7-10) was the losing pitcher.  He allowed 3 runs and 6 hits in 6
innings.  
 
LIONVILLE AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Ed Kranepool connected with a 'big fly' and had 3 RBI at Hopewell Field as the
Lionville club beat the Guthriesville Golddiggers 6-2.
 
Lionville tallied 4 runs in the top of the 4th inning when they came up with 5
base hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Kranepool who silenced
the stadium when he lofted a three-run 'big-fly'.  Lionville had 13 hits for
the night while Guthriesville had 8.  
 
Max Leon(4-4) got the win allowing 2 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings. Steve
Rogers(13-8) was charged with the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 12 hits
and 2 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.
