Mike Schmidt slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Kimberton Fairground as the
Elverson Squires beat the Kimberton Firefighters 4-3.
 
Schmidt provided much of the offense.  He slapped a one-base hit scoring a run
in the 1st inning, lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 4th inning and
smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 6th inning.  Kimberton threatened
in the 9th but their rally came up short.  
 
The victory was credited to Ed Halicki(10-9) who went 8 innings, allowing 3
runs. Mike Garman recorded his 16th save.  The loss was charged to Fred
Norman(9-7).  
 
MARSHALLTON AT DEVAULT

Ken Griffey had 2 base hits as the Marshallton Mad Hatters outscored the
Devault Dynamiters in 10 innings 3-2.
 
Both teams had scored 2 runs after nine full innings.  Finally, Marshallton
prevailed in the 10th inning.  After two were out Griffey doubled, and an
error was also committed.  Ron Cey stepped up to the plate and he doubled.
Garry Templeton then stroked a base-hit.  Marshallton had 12 hits for the
night while Devault had 7.  
 
Rollie Fingers(1-7) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
Buddy Schultz earned his 6th save.  Jon Matlack(11-6) suffered the loss.  He
gave up 3 runs and 10 hits in 9 and 2/3 innings.

Tom Seaver pitched a complete game as the amazing Chester Springs club topped
the Honey Brook Beekeepers by a score of 13-5 at Historic Village Park.
 
Chester Springs took the lead off Mark Lemongello in the first inning scoring
3 runners on 3 hits.  Chester Springs totaled 16 hits on the night.
 
Seaver(12-6) was the winner allowing 5 runs for the game. Lemongello(7-10) was
the losing pitcher.  He was unable to control the Chester Springs offense and
allowed 5 hits and 2 walks in 2 innings.  
 
GLENMOORE AT EAGLE

Richie Hebner had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Glenmoore Stableboys beat the Eagle
Eagles by a score of 8-4.
 
In the top of the 6th inning Glenmoore went on top for good when they scored 2
runs on 3 hits.  Glenmoore had 15 hits for the game and Eagle had 9.  
 
The winning pitcher was Mario Soto(1-1) who allowed 4 runs in 5 and 2/3
innings. Soto got relief help from John Urrea who gained credit for his 2nd
save.  Mike Krukow(3-4) was given the loss.  He was knocked around by
Glenmoore, allowing 10 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.  
 
LIONVILLE AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Derrel Thomas had 4 hits as the Guthriesville Golddiggers defeated the
Lionville ballclub 5-4 at Hopewell Field.
 
Guthriesville had 2 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 7th inning.
Thomas led off and got things going when he singled.  Keith Hernandez stepped
up next and he clubbed a two-run home run.  Lionville threatened in the 9th
but Guthriesville was able to put down the rally.  
 
Buzz Capra(4-7) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 4 runs. Clay Carroll recorded the save, his 5th.  Randy Jones(8-6)
was the loser.  He was touched for 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.
