In a good matchup it was the Elverson Squires 6, the Marshallton Mad Hatters 3
at French Creek Park.
 
John Denny(8-11) earned his pay with a solid performance for Elverson.  He
surrendered 3 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.  Overall Elverson
out-hit Marshallton 8-3.  
 
Al Hrabosky earned the save, his 16th.  Tom Underwood(8-7) was given the loss.
He gave up 8 hits and 6 walks in 7 innings.

In a tight game it was the smoking-hot Eagle Eagles 4, the pathetic Honey
Brook Beekeepers 2 at The Nest.
 
In the top of the 6th inning Eagle scored 2 runs when they had 3 base hits.
They ended up being the winning runs.  Eagle rapped out 10 hits for the
night.  
 
Dick Ruthven(12-9) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings.
Ruthven got help from Randy Moffitt who earned his 34th save.  Jerry
Koosman(12-7) was hit with the loss.  He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 10 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.  
 
Eagle's very impressive winning streak is now at 15 games. 'We've
really come alive lately,' Bob Phillips said. 'We won some tough games and I
feel real good about this ballclub right now, and hopefully we'll continue
the roll we're on.'

84 fans were treated to a fine game at Bentley Stadium as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Devault Dynamiters won by the
slimmest of margins, 2-1.
 
The score was tied at 1 after nine.  Devault came out the victor in the 11th
inning.  After an out was recorded, Dave Kingman blasted a solo shot.  Bob
Bailey next to the plate and he drew a walk.  Tony Perez then drew a walk.
Devault won despite being out-hit by Glenmoore 8-5.  
 
The victory was credited to Tom Griffin(5-5) who went 3 and 2/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Bruce Sutter got the save, his 31st.  John
Montefusco(14-11) was the losing pitcher.  He pitched 10 and 1/3 innings
giving up only 5 hits and 2 walks.
 
 
KIMBERTON AT LIONVILLE

Catcher Ted Simmons had 2 base hits at Foster Field where the indomitable
Lionville team beat the Kimberton Firefighters 2-1.
 
Lionville came up with 1 run in the 5th inning.  Kimberton had a chance in the
9th but they came up short.  
 
The win was credited to Ron Reed(13-3) who went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 1
run. Tom Walker recorded his 2nd save.  The loss was charged to Don
Carrithers(7-10).  
 
'We didn't get the key hits when we needed them' Rich Pawlak said. 'We did
what we could, we just didn't pull out the win. What can you say?'
