John Candelaria went 9 solid innings as the Kimberton Firefighters topped the
Marshallton Mad Hatters 6-1 at Kimberton Fairground.
 
In the bottom of the 4th inning Kimberton scored 5 runs when they had 7 base
hits.  They ended up being the winning runs.  Kimberton totaled 13 hits on
the afternoon.  
 
Candelaria(15-5) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Tom
Underwood(8-5) was the losing pitcher.  He was not very effective,
surrendering 4 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.  
 
'Candelaria was the man today,' Rich Pawlak said.  'He had just about every
pitch working.'
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT EAGLE

Center fielder Bruce Boisclair slammed a homerun and had 5 RBI and Rick
Reuschel came through with a solid 9 innings as the seemingly unstoppable
Eagle Eagles crushed the awful Guthriesville Golddiggers 13-0.
 
Boisclair had a good evening at the plate.  He launched a three-run homer in
the 3rd inning and lashed a single plating two runs in the 7th inning.  Eagle
finished with 18 hits in the victory.  
 
Reuschel(16-10) was credited with the shutout. Larry Dierker(6-12) took the
loss.  He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 6 runs in 2 and 1/3
innings.  
 
Eagle continued their winning ways, with their streak now at 9 games and
counting. 'Everything seems to be going right for us' said Bob Phillips.
'I've got the easiest job in the league right now!'

In a good matchup it was the Elverson Squires 7, the Devault Dynamiters 4 at
Great Valley Stadium.
 
Elverson jumped on top of Devault in the top of the 6th inning scoring one
runner using 2 hits.  For the game Elverson out-hit Devault 13-7.  
 
The victory went to Doug Rau(11-10) who went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs. Al
Hrabosky preserved the game for Rau, recording his his 15th.  Jon
Matlack(12-9) ended up with the loss.  He surrendered 4 runs and 9 hits in 6
and 1/3 innings.  
 
 
HONEY BROOK AT CHESTER SPRINGS

Phil Niekro tossed a complete game as the Chester Springs ballclub won at
Historic Village Park in dramatic fashion over the hapless Honey Brook
Beekeepers, 4-3.
 
The game was won by Chester Springs with a run in the bottom of the 9th
inning.  Dave Winfield drew a walk.  One out later, Rick Monday was next to
the plate, but was promptly struck out.  Jose Cardenal then laced a
base-knock giving Chester Springs the victory and sending the 367 home-town
fans home happy.  Chester Springs had a total of 10 hits for the game.  
 
The winning pitcher was Niekro(12-12) who allowed 3 runs for the game. John
D'Acquisto(1-8) was tagged with the loss in relief.  
 
 
GLENMOORE AT LIONVILLE

Ted Simmons had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Burt Hooton allowed just 3 hits at
Foster Field as the very talented Lionville team beat the ice-cold Glenmoore
Stableboys 6-1.
 
Lionville scored 5 runs in the decisive 2nd inning when they came up with 3
base hits.  That early scoring held up.  Lionville had 9 hits for the night.
 
The victory was credited to Hooton(16-5) who went the distance, allowing 1
run. Bill Bonham(6-11) was hit with the loss.
