In a good matchup it was the streaking Eagle Eagles 4, the Elverson Squires 2
at Hickory Park.
Eagle scored 3 runs in the 3rd inning when they came up with 3 base hits.
That early scoring held up. Eagle had only 6 hits for the game.
Pat Zachry(11-9) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.
Randy Moffitt got the save, his 33rd. Ed Halicki(8-12) ended up with the
loss.
Eagle added another win to their mounting winning streak.

Steve Swisher had 2 base hits at Four Dogs Field as the Honey Brook Beekeepers
beat the Marshallton Mad Hatters in 10 innings 6-5.
Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Honey
Brook prevailed in the 10th inning. Willie Stargell laced a one-base hit.
Stargell was safe at second on a stolen base. Doug Rader was a strikeout
victim, unable to help out. Swisher came up and he ripped a base-knock.
After another out, Dave Cash came to bat and stroked a base-hit. Honey Brook
had a total of 9 hits for the game.
The win was credited to Dave Freisleben(5-11) who went 9 and 1/3 innings
allowing 5 runs. Darold Knowles earned his 5th save. Rawly Eastwick(5-11)
was given the loss in relief.
'He gutted it out' Chris McLaughlin said of Freisleben. 'I was very impressed
by his tenacity.'

The Glenmoore Stableboys got by the Chester Springs ballclub at Bentley
Stadium 4-2.
Glenmoore scored the winning runs in the bottom of the 8th inning scoring 2
runs. After two were out Willie Montanez started the rally when he drew a
walk. Mike Anderson next to the plate and he drew a walk. Roy Staiger then
drew a walk to load the bases. Charlie Hough then bounced one in the dirt
for a wild pitch. Hough then threw a wild pitch. Glenmoore managed 7 hits
in their victory.
The victory went to Bill Bonham(7-11) who went 8 innings, allowing 2 runs.
Bonham got help from Gene Garber who was credited with his 32nd save.
Hough(6-8) was the loser in relief.
KIMBERTON AT GUTHRIESVILLE

In a lopsided win the Guthriesville Golddiggers ripped the Kimberton
Firefighters 8-3.
Guthriesville scored 3 runs in the decisive bottom of the 3rd inning with the
help of 4 hits. That early scoring was all that Andy Messersmith(7-12)
needed. Both teams totaled 9 hits on the night.
Ken Forsch recorded his 20th save. Don Carrithers(7-9) suffered the loss. He
got hit hard, allowing 5 hits and 3 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.

Craig Swan took a no-hitter into the 6th inning at Foster Field where the
strong Lionville team beat the Devault Dynamiters 5-1.
Swan(6-7) pitched a fine game. He surrendered 2 hits and 3 walks in 6
innings. Swan racked up 8 strikeouts. The right-handed Swan lost his no-hit
bid when Richie Zisk singled with two outs in the 6th inning. Devault was
out-hit by Lionville, 10-2.
Ron Reed recorded the save, his 18th. Dan Warthen(3-3) was hit with the loss
in relief. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 4 runs in 3 and 1/3
innings.
