Jerry Koosman came through with a solid 10 innings at Hickory Park as the
Honey Brook Beekeepers beat the Eagle Eagles in 10 innings 4-3.
 
The score was tied at 3 after nine.  Honey Brook ended up winning it in the
10th inning.  Steve Swisher drew a walk.  Dave Cash stepped up next and he
singled.  Cliff Johnson struck out, unable to help the rally.  Cesar Geronimo
stepped in and he would ground out.  Jay Johnstone was a strikeout victim,
unable to help out.  Honey Brook finished with 10 hits in the victory.  
 
The win went to Koosman(13-7) who allowed 3 runs in the game. Randy
Moffitt(8-7) took the loss in relief.  He gave up 3 hits and 3 walks in 3 and
2/3 innings.  
 
ELVERSON AT MARSHALLTON

The Marshallton Mad Hatters nipped the Elverson Squires 4-3 at Four Dogs
Field in a hard fought contest.
 
The deciding run was scored by Marshallton in the bottom of the 8th.  Mike
Ivie doubled.  Dave Heaverlo then threw a wild pitch.  Ron Cey then banged
out a single.  Steve Yeager followed, but he was set down on strikes.  After
another out, A balk was came to bat and called.  Marty Perez was next to bat,
but he was a strikeout victim.  Elverson threatened in the 9th but their
rally came up short.  
 
The victory went to Bruce Dal Canton(2-2) who went 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing
no runs. Rawly Eastwick recorded the save, his 39th.  Doug Rau(12-11) was
tagged with the loss.  
 
'We didn't get the key hits when we needed them' John Carney said. 'We did
what we could, we just didn't pull out the win. What can you say?'
 
GLENMOORE AT DEVAULT

In a close game the Devault Dynamiters got by the Glenmoore Stableboys 4-2.
 
Jon Matlack(14-9) was in control of the game from the outset.  He surrendered
only 5 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.  Matlack whiffed an impressive total of
9 Glenmoore batters.  Devault out-hit Glenmoore for the game, 8 hits to 5.
 
Matlack got help from Bruce Sutter who earned his 34th save.  Bo
McLaughlin(3-6) ended up with the loss.
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT CHESTER SPRINGS

Left fielder Rich Chiles had 4 hits as the Chester Springs team defeated the
ice-cold Guthriesville Golddiggers 5-3 at Historic Village Park.
 
Chester Springs took the lead for good in the 6th inning plating an isolated
run utilizing 3 base hits.  Chester Springs finished with 15 hits while
Guthriesville ended up with 5.  
 
Phil Niekro(14-12) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Charlie
Hough gained credit for his 32nd save.  Larry Christenson(3-15) was the
losing pitcher.  
 
LIONVILLE AT KIMBERTON

The strong Lionville club put 4 runs on the scoreboard in the 1st inning and
and the Kimberton Firefighters locked up in an exciting one-run game at
Kimberton Fairground.  The final score was Lionville 7, Kimberton 6.
 
Lionville came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning with 2 runs on 3
base hits.  After an out was recorded, Ken Reitz got things going when he
laced a base-knock.  Hozay Morales came next and he ripped a single.  After
another out, Jim Wynn came to bat and doubled.  The Kimberton bats were
silent in the bottom of the 9th.  
 
Ken Sanders(4-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings.
Sanders was helped out by Ron Reed who recorded his 20th save.  Carl
Morton(5-7) was the loser in relief.  He surrendered 1 run and 1 hit without
retiring a batter.
