Don Stanhouse(6-3) and Bob Forsch(7-8) locked horns in a pitcher's duel with
Stanhouse and the sizzling Eagle Eagles coming out on top of the Elverson
Squires 3-0.
Elverson lost it in the 5th inning when Eagle did all their damage when they
scored 3 runs on 4 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Pete Rose who
brought a roar from the partisan Hickory Park fans when he delivered a
base-hit plating two runs. Eagle managed 7 hits in their victory.
Chip Lang recorded his 2nd save. The winning ways continue for Eagle. They
now have won 12 games in a row.

The Marshallton Mad Hatters nipped the hapless Honey Brook Beekeepers 3-2
at Four Dogs Field in a hard fought contest.
Marshallton did all of it's offensive work in the 1st inning scoring 3 runners
on 3 hits. That early scoring held up. Honey Brook threatened in the 9th
but Marshallton was able to put down the rally.
The victory went to Steve Renko(10-8) who went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs.
Renko got help from Adrian Devine who earned his 8th save. Ray Burris(8-20)
was the loser. He allowed 3 runs and 7 hits in 7 and 1/3 innings.
CHESTER SPRINGS AT GLENMOORE

At Bentley Stadium, the Glenmoore fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel. John
Montefusco(14-10) finally bested his Chester Springs opposite, Tom
Seaver(13-8), 4-0.
Chester Springs found themselves trailing quickly as the Glenmoore bats came
through in the first inning scoring a single run utilizing 2 base hits. The
early run support proved sufficient for Montefusco and Glenmoore. That was
all the run support Montefusco required. For the game Glenmoore out-hit
Chester Springs 8-5.
Gene Garber earned the save, his 33rd. Seaver absorbed the loss. He gave up
4 runs and 8 hits in 8 innings.
KIMBERTON AT GUTHRIESVILLE

176 fans watched an exciting game at Hopewell Field. The Guthriesville
Golddiggers topped the Kimberton Firefighters by the slimmest of margins, 5-4.
Guthriesville scored 3 runs in the decisive bottom of the 5th inning when they
had 5 base hits. The biggest moment was provided by Keith Hernandez who
elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he doubled bringing in two
baserunners. Kimberton had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
Steve Rogers(8-12) went 7 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. Kent Tekulve
preserved the game for Rogers, recording his his 3rd. The losing pitcher was
Larry Demery(6-7). He surrendered 5 runs and 10 hits in 8 innings.

Ken Reitz had 2 base hits as the mighty Lionville team defeated the Devault
Dynamiters in 11 innings 5-2 at Foster Field.
The score was tied at 2 after nine. Lionville won it in the 11th inning.
After two outs Ed Kranepool got things rolling when he ripped a single.
Reitz came to the plate and stroked a base-hit. Joe Morgan then launched a
three-run homer giving Lionville the victory and sending the 1,007 home-town
fans home happy. Lionville ended up with 11 hits for the game while Devault
had 7.
Max Leon(2-1) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. Bruce
Sutter(3-6) was the losing pitcher in relief. He pitched 3 and 2/3 innings
giving up 5 hits and 1 walk.
