Tom Griffin racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts as the Devault
Dynamiters bested the Kimberton Firefighters 9-2 at Great Valley Stadium.
 
Phil Garner provided much of the offense.  He belted a three-run homer in the
1st inning, doubled in the 6th inning and lined a single in the 7th inning.
Kimberton was out-hit by Devault, 10-7.  
 
Griffin(8-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 2 runs. Fred Norman(11-8) was hit with the loss.  Devault scored big
getting 9 runs off him in 8 innings.  
 
'Everything felt great' Griffin said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could
throw it by everybody today.'

Left fielder Rick Monday launched 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Hickory Park as
the powerful Chester Springs team beat the Eagle Eagles 9-5.
 
Monday enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He slapped a single in the 2nd inning,
hit a bases-empty home run in the 5th inning and smashed a two-run homer in
the 8th inning.  Chester Springs ended up with 11 hits for the game while
Eagle had 6.  
 
The win went to Phil Niekro(17-7) who allowed 5 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings.
Mike Krukow(3-5) was tagged with the loss.  He surrendered 3 runs and 4 hits
in 4 and 2/3 innings.  
 
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT HONEY BROOK

Enos Cabell left the yard and had 2 RBI and Steve Rogers pitched 9 strong
innings as the Guthriesville Golddiggers defeated the pathetic Honey Brook
Beekeepers 3-1 at The Nest.
 
Honey Brook was unable to recover after Guthriesville went ahead in the top of
the 7th inning scoring one runner.  Guthriesville managed 7 hits in their
victory.  
 
Rogers(16-9) was the winner allowing 1 run for the game. Ray Burris(8-13) was
given the loss.

John Milner had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Elverson Squires outscored the
Glenmoore Stableboys 10-3.
 
Jim Barr(6-15) gave a fine effort for Elverson.  He was reached for 7 hits and
1 walk in 7 innings.  Elverson finished with 12 hits while Glenmoore ended up
with 8.  
 
Barr got help from Dave Heaverlo who was credited with his 1st save.  John
Montefusco(6-5) was the losing pitcher.  He surrendered 5 hits and 4 walks in
5 and 1/3 innings.
 
LIONVILLE AT MARSHALLTON

Joe Morgan blasted 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Lionville ballclub defeated
the Marshallton Mad Hatters by the score of 10-4 at Four Dogs Field.
 
Morgan led the offense for Lionville.  He ripped a solo home run in the 1st
inning and clubbed a two-run home run in the 5th inning.  Lionville totaled
11 hits on the night. Ken Reitz added a grand slam homer in the 5th inning. 
 
Burt Hooton(9-5) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. The loss
was charged to J.R. Richard(12-11).  He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 4
and 1/3 innings of work.
