Willie McCovey blasted 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the incredible Chester
Springs team man-handled the Kimberton Firefighters - the final score was 16-4.
 
McCovey really lit it up for Chester Springs.  The Kimberton fans let him have
it for what he did to their boys.  He cleared the fences for a two-run home
run in the 8th inning and belted a three-run homer in the 9th inning.
Chester Springs provided plenty of action in the 6th inning plating 4 runs
and the 8th inning with 4 runs on 4 hits.  Chester Springs kept the pressure
on throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.  
 
Jerry Reuss(7-8) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 2 runs. Dale Murray was credited with his 2nd save.  Wayne
Twitchell(6-6) was tagged with the loss.  He allowed Chester Springs 6 runs
in 5 innings of work.

Clay Carroll closed it out for Guthriesville as the Guthriesville Golddiggers
topped the Honey Brook Beekeepers by a score of 10-9 at The Nest.
 
Jim Kaat(9-6) was lucky to get the win as he struggled out there tonight.  He
gave up 5 runs, 9 hits and no walks in 5 innings.  Kaat was helped out by
Carroll who pitched a perfect ninth and recorded his 6th save.  
 
Ray Burris(8-12) absorbed the loss.

Steve Carlton had a complete game as the Lionville club beat the Marshallton
Mad Hatters by a score of 3-1.
 
Carlton(14-8) had a strong outing.  He didn't allow much, just 5 hits and 4
walks in 9 innings.  The pitchers took over after the 3rd inning as neither
team was able to score again.  
 
Charlie Williams(3-6) ended up with the loss.  He surrendered 4 hits and 2
walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.
