Steve Ontiveros had 2 base hits and scored 4 times as the Glenmoore Stableboys
outscored the Devault Dynamiters 9-5.
 
Devault never recovered after Glenmoore took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd
inning with 3 runs on 3 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Johnny Bench
kicked off the action when he drew a walk.  Bake McBride was next and he
stroked a one-base hit.  McBride swiped second base.  Richie Hebner followed
and he reached on an error.  One out later, Ontiveros stepped up to the plate
and he doubled.  Barry Bonnell kept things alive and slapped a base-hit.
Glenmoore continued their aggressive style with another stolen base.  Devault
was not lacking for run support as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet
victory eluded them as they seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to
win ballgames.  
 
Bill Bonham(11-7) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings.
Pedro Borbon recorded his 3rd save.  Jackie Brown(3-8) took the loss.  He got
hit hard, allowing 11 hits and 5 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.  
 
KIMBERTON AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Jerry Grote had 2 base hits as the Kimberton Firefighters beat the
Guthriesville Golddiggers by a score of 5-3.
 
Wayne Twitchell(6-5) delivered a fine performance for Kimberton.  He was
reached for 10 hits and 1 walk in 8 innings.  Both teams finished the game
with 11 hits.  
 
Twitchell got relief help from Skip Lockwood who gained credit for his 18th
save.  Larry Christenson(6-11) was tagged with the loss.  He allowed 7 hits
and 4 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.  
 
'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it
was nothing.' Twitchell said.  'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't
put the ball where I wanted it.'

Jerry Koosman had an impressive outing as the Honey Brook Beekeepers defeated
the Eagle Eagles by the score of 5-3 at The Nest.
 
Honey Brook scored 3 runs in the decisive 4th inning when they had 4 base
hits.  It was enough scoring to earn the victory.  Eagle threatened in the
9th but Honey Brook was able to put down the rally.  
 
The victory was credited to Koosman(11-8) who went the distance, allowing 3
runs. The losing pitcher was Don Sutton(9-10).  
 
Bob Phillips was reflective after the loss, 'We should have won this one, we
just made one too many mistakes.  Son-of-a-gun, that added a couple more
white hairs on this noggin of mine.'
 
MARSHALLTON AT ELVERSON

Mike Garman was great in relief at French Creek Park where the Elverson
Squires beat the Marshallton Mad Hatters by the score of 5-4.
 
Bob Forsch(11-7) had a fairly solid outing.  He went 7 innings and surrended
up 10 hits and 2 walks.  A wild affair, this game saw the lead change 5
times.  
 
Forsch was helped out by Garman who recorded his 17th save.  J.R.
Richard(11-10) ended up with the loss.  He gave up 4 hits and 9 walks in 8
innings.
 
CHESTER SPRINGS AT LIONVILLE

The Lionville club and the Chester Springs ballclub locked up in an exciting
one-run game at Foster Field.  The final score was the Lionville club 8, the
Chester Springs ballclub 7 in 10 innings.
 
The score was tied at 7 after nine.  Lionville came out on top in the 10th
inning.  Jerry Martin doubled.  Ken Reitz next to the plate and he delivered
a one-base hit resulting in an exciting win for Lionville and a raucous
post-game celebration by the home town fans.  Lionville finished with 12 hits
in the victory.  
 
The winning pitcher was Max Leon(5-5) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Charlie
Hough(3-6) was charged with the loss in relief.
