The Kimberton Firefighters nipped the Chester Springs team 5-4 at Kimberton
Fairground in a hard fought contest.
Kimberton wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning when they
scored 3 runs on 1 hit. The highlight belonged to Bob Watson who elicited a
roar from the hometown fans when he clubbed a three-run home run. Chester
Springs had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
The victory was credited to Eric Rasmussen(13-6) who went 8 innings, allowing
3 runs. Rasmussen was helped out by Skip Lockwood who recorded his 19th save.
Phil Niekro(16-7) was the losing pitcher. He pitched 8 innings giving up 6
hits and 8 walks.

Tommy John pitched a complete game as the Devault Dynamiters defeated the
Eagle Eagles by the score of 8-3 at Great Valley Stadium.
Devault jumped on top of Eagle in the bottom of the 4th inning scoring a
single run using 2 hits. Garry Maddox doubled. Two outs later Bill Russell
came up and he ripped a base-knock. Despite losing, Eagle out-hit Devault 13-10.
John(12-6) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 3 runs. Don
Sutton(9-11) suffered the loss. He was touched for 5 homeruns in his 8
innings of work.

J.R. Richard(12-10) and Bill Bonham(11-8) dueled it out with Richard and the
Marshallton Mad Hatters coming out on top of the Glenmoore Stableboys by the
score of 2-1.
Richard pitched a fine game. He surrendered 9 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings.
Both teams' bats went to sleep after the 3rd inning with no runs scored after
that point.
Rollie Fingers earned the save, his 21st. 'I was a little good, a little bad
and a little ugly.' said Richard, 'I was just giving us a chance to win.'

Nino Espinosa tossed a complete game and Lee Mazzilli had 2 base hits as the
Elverson Squires outscored the Guthriesville Golddiggers 3-1.
Elverson jumped on top to stay in the bottom of the 3rd inning plating an
isolated run. After two were out Al Oliver clubbed a solo home run. The
early run support proved sufficient for Espinosa(4-5) and Elverson. That was
all the run support Espinosa required. Elverson finished with 7 hits in the
victory.
Steve Rogers(15-9) was charged with the loss. He surrendered 3 runs and 6
hits in 7 and 2/3 innings.

Terry Whitfield had 4 hits at The Nest as the Honey Brook Beekeepers beat the
Lionville ballclub in 13 innings 7-6.
The game was deadlocked at 6 after nine full innings. Honey Brook was
victorious in the 13th inning. Whitfield banged out a single. Cesar
Geronimo got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim. Junior Moore then
hit a single. Dave Cash followed and he would hit into a force play giving
Honey Brook the victory and sending the 608 home-town fans home happy. This
was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 6 times.
Pete Falcone(3-2) allowed 3 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Max Leon(5-6) was given the loss in relief. He allowed 5 hits and 3
walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
