John Candelaria had an impressive outing and Reggie Smith cracked a homer and
had 2 RBI at Kimberton Fairground where the Kimberton Firefighters beat the
Chester Springs club 6-1.
Kimberton set the tone of the game in the first inning when they tallied 2
runs on 2 hits. That early scoring held up. Kimberton had 11 hits for the
night.
The win was credited to Candelaria(11-10) who went the whole way allowing 1
run. The loss was charged to Tom Seaver(12-8). Candelaria was obviously very
pleased with his performance in the aftermath of the game, 'It was just one
of those games where everything worked. My arm felt great, heck, I could
have pitched another two or three innings. I only hope that I can do it
again next time out!'

Rick Reuschel came through with a solid 8 innings at Great Valley Stadium as
the Eagle Eagles beat the Devault Dynamiters by the count of 3-1.
Eagle had the winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs utilizing 3 base
hits. Pete Rose led off and started the attack as he doubled. George Foster
stepped into the batter's box and he clubbed a two-run home run. Two outs
later Larry Biittner came to the plate and lined a single. Bill Atkinson was
perfect in relief and gained credit for his 21st save.
The win was credited to Reuschel(10-8) who went 8 innings allowing 1 run. Tom
Griffin(7-3) was hit with the loss in relief.

Rick Rhoden pitched a complete game and Biff Pocoroba had 3 base hits as the
Glenmoore Stableboys beat the Marshallton Mad Hatters by a score of 7-1.
Glenmoore took the lead for good in the 6th inning when they came up with 3
runs on 4 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Bake McBride who silenced
the crowd when he lined a one-base hit which was good for two runs. Neither
team was able to score until the 6th inning.
Rhoden(9-9) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Bob Shirley(9-8)
was the loser. He pitched 5 innings allowing only 3 hits and no walks.

Sam Mejias smashed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at French Creek Park as the
Guthriesville Golddiggers belted the Elverson Squires by the count of 12-0.
Mejias enjoyed a big day at the plate. He smashed a two-run homer in the 1st
inning, belted a three-run homer in the 3rd inning and doubled in the 5th
inning. Guthriesville dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different
innings.
Larry Christenson(7-11) was the winner allowing no runs in 8 and 2/3 innings.
Jim Barr(5-15) took the loss. Guthriesville knocked him around a bit, as he
gave up 5 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
'I felt great out there today,' Mejias said, 'Maybe I should make a regular
habit of getting to bed on time!'
LIONVILLE AT HONEY BROOK

Jerry Koosman went 9 solid innings at The Nest as the Honey Brook Beekeepers
beat the Lionville ballclub 12-4.
Honey Brook jumped on top of Lionville in the bottom of the 2nd inning as they
scored 4 runs on 2 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Mike
Phillips who came through for the home fans when he delivered a one-base hit
bringing home two baserunners. Honey Brook had a total of 13 hits for the
game.
The victory went to Koosman(12-8) who went the distance allowing 4 runs. The
losing pitcher was Randy Jones(9-7). He got hit pretty hard, allowing 8 hits
and 3 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.
